To quantity if we sell him and can use those funds to buy 2 additional CBs, (a tall strong brick wall type and a young, more mobile who can bring the ball out comfortably type) then I would be ok with it

He's been a big part of our success but he's also not infallible but gets away with it because there are worse defenders in the squad than him over the last couple of seasons which by default make him look better.

He turns like a tanker, not the biggest centre half you'll ever see and plays in a position within the back 3/5 which is probably the easiest to replace.

If we can get a decent fee, I’d let him go. Probably past his peak, if we are being honest. Could use some of the fee to bring in someone younger.

I'm surprised someone hasn't already taken him. He's obviously more comfortable playing in a three, with others around him to cover the weaker parts of his game (pace and height) but, as proven over the previous 2 seasons, he's certainly able to play at Prem level.

Unlike a lot of others on here, I actually think he'd be difficult to replace, certainly with the amount (fee + salary) that Utd would be looking to pay.

Agree, I'm certainly not wishing him out the door but if we do fall short and we get an offer and he wants to go then you'd hope we have a plan.

Would be a hard one to replace. Not only has he been pretty consistent overall in his time here, he's very used to this system we play.

I wouldn't want to see him go, but every player has a price. If we aren't promoted wouldn't be surprised to see Egan go.
And now that Berge appears to be hitting a bit more form he could have more interest, plus I reckon his fee would be less now than last summer as we would probably need to cash in.

Sort of make or break for retaining some of our assets this season.

There's no arguing that his performance on Saturday was top drawer however throughout the season he has not hit the levels consistently that we have come to expect. I am sure he would agree with that, and its not helped again with a constant changing , for whatever reason, of the back three. His having the ball and playing out of our 18 yard box is also something he certainly did not like during the Slav era and he has made some howlers passing it out. However he is a top drawer defender and would be a terrible loss and there is no doubt that he has carried our defence through some sloppy periods which due to those around him has left him sometimes floundering, but as you say our know notws can't work that lot out.

Can not understand why any Blade would want to see the back of him ,strange. There was one top notch striker who would have liked to see the back of him on Saturday .In fact he had an early bath never looked like adding to his record breaking goal tally . Egan had him in his pocket and you could see it was getting to him.
