I thought Basham would be prime for Doyles role

They could play in the same position (Doyle's) but would do it differently. Basham would be a defensive minded ball winner, good in the air and strong in the tackle. He'd add height which we do lack and would work very hard, but we shouldn't expect him to be very creative.

From what I've seen (also not a great deal) Wallace would be a midfield general, a better playmaker, but not as good at tracking back, marking and covering. If Wallace came I think Stephen McGinn should probably look to move on, as they are quite similar type of players. As is the case with McGinn, I don't know if Wallace is mobile enough (has the stamina) to do Scougall and Coady's role, i.e. making numerous runs into the box, as well as doing a lot of chasing, it is not the role he's done at Tranmere. Having said that he's got a decent shot and looks quite composed when shooting. Maybe Wallace would make it easier for us to play 4-4-2, with him alongside Scougall.

I have seen somewhere that the fee is agreed at £250k split equally between the 2 clubs. This really would be an excellent signing
