I think we should keep our feet on the ground, though I appreciate statements like that make you about as popular as Liberace in a blood bank right now. I know nothing about Wallace, so I've looked at what Tranmere fans have had to say. Basically, very good for one season before injury, suspect last season after injury. We're resting our hopes on him recovering past form, which is no bad thing in itself. But we've signed a group of what ifs in the main, and that means we've got a lot to be positive about, but nothing to be over confident about.

As is the consensus, we are desperate for at least one striker, because we're really poor up front. For me, next season rests on the quality of that signing.

Agree. All the pressure is on mcnulty, who to be fair shouldn't be expected too much of,we still need that proven goalscorer to have any chance of promotion, porter not good enough, baxter not a striker,so for me i think we need 2 more strikers lets hope and prey cloughy gets it right and gets us out of this league.

We had play off form with baxter/porter upfront since Clough came in. We don't need a big name flashy player imho.

We also had Coady, Brayford and Maguire
Doesnt look like we will be getting the 2 laon players back and Maguire maybe on his way
We do need a proven goalscorer doest have to be big or flashy
We scored around a goal a game last season we need to better that by at least 50%

Of course we need to add goals but i don't think a 'star' man is needed If Murphy can have a full season like the second half he'll get double figures easily. I think we need a solid 10-15 goal a year striker and that is it but some blades have unrealistic expectations of a bang them in all the time type! Lets face it if we didn't play the style we did under Weir we'd of had more than the 48 we did end up with. Perhaps only 60 or so but our defence is reasonably strong so we don't NEED 89 goals like Wolves but 72ish like Brentford had meaning i feel with the current strike force we are not lacking as badly as others think.

However i have been drinking and watching goals fly in on the telly all night so think anyone can do it!!

I think he needs to be Sharp.

I'm under no illusions about how difficult next season will be, with the likes of Bristol City, Preston and the relegated teams it will be a tough league to get out of and even more difficult if the sides that performed well last season do again this season like Leyton Orient & Peterborough.

The excitement comes from the potential that is there, with the signings so far, the youngsters looking to break through and the prospect of a full season of Clough. It sure beats the pre season feelings of the last few years so I'll enjoy it while I can.

Clough is going about his business quickly, with just a few more spots to fill,I can't wait for the new season to start.

True. There's always a 'dark horse' who nobody thinks about.

But why not kill two birds with one stone? We need a proven striker? Check. Why not go for Britt Assombalonga? We're always hearing 'couldn't stand in his way', 'offer too big to turn down' etc. For Britt to come to the Blades from Peterborough would be like winning the Lottery.

I like that thought. I think Peterborough are similar to MK Dons, a solid League 1 side but I'd hope we can lure a player from them and hopefully beat them during the season.

In my quest to learn something about him, I trawled that board. Typically, they were less bothered after he'd gone than they were when he might have been leaving . I wouldn't read too much into it.

He's clearly got lots of talent and has gone off the boil since injury. He's only 22. Thankfully we've got a manager who's proved he can get the best out of players.
