He passed away 22 years ago and always a fresh memory daily. He's the reason I'm a Blade and he will be with us all on Saturday along with all the heavenly Blades

As the wind blows through the leaves and the Sun is in the Sky
I'm sure I catch a glimpse of you in the corner of my eye

Lovely words

Beautiful.

I was at a funeral not too long ago and the son had asked people to turn up in sports shirts because his dad had been a big sports fan.

I was the only one there in a shirt (felt like a right berk...) but his son said something that has stuck with me since.

That sports teams form communities around them and that the players who wear these shirts represent all of that community. Our own personal relationships are part of the past, present and future of the club.

Its a special place, not for the football, but for everyone there and those that can't be there anymore.

My Dad passed around 3 years ago and we all followed suit, albeit everybody wearing either a Blades shirt or all in Red and White.

With him being 58 at the time there was great numbers in attendance and the whole crematorium and wake was a sea of red and white, a picture of beauty to behold.

My dad passed about 10 years back, he was a scouser who supported Everton. Luckily I'm much more sensible than he was.

My Dad was the reason I'm a Blade. An orphan from Nottingham who joined up in 1943 and was on the D Day beaches. His army mate from Sheffield was a Heeley lad and arranged for his girlfriend to send her best friends details to him. Result he started writing to Mom a Heeley girl herself. They married in 1947 when he was de mobbed and he came to live in Sheffield for the first time. As the Lane was just down the road from Heeley afternoons were spent watching SUFC. I made my debut at a reserve match in 1961. Been hooked ever since.

Lost him 4 years ago but theres not a day that doesn't go by where I'm not thinking about him. Love you Dad.
