It is exceedingly unlikely that convincing you figures on anyone's To-Do list.
Is there now a rule that players must be signed in chronological order according to quality? First must be best? A remarkable and puzzling development, if so.
What or Who is the BGP?
I think its meant to say BRP for bog roll prince, its m jupps way of explaining the prince and tbh its propably easier than saying his full name.Whats worrying me is how the prince(brp)is taking all the flack ,saying where's all this money what he's supposedly got etc and yet mccabe never gets a mentionI'll start this one Pinchers - Blades Gayest Player? Blades God Pinchy? I'm sure there are countless permutations, so if anyone can contribute, we might eventually discover what BGP actually stands for?

With reference to the Prince, can you define "spent significantly" any more clearly - a couple of million ? 10 ? 20 ? - and give any idea of what the money has been spent on ? Presumably running costs, including wages, as we're certainly not paying out anything much in transfer fees, but it'd be nice to have any more detail that you have.
It'll all obviously be in the accounts (albeit not exactly broken down into his personal spend), but think of the costs since he arrived (both officially and before he was announced to the press) and the income we receive from ticket sales/tv money. We've had running costs and player incomings (transfers and loans), sacked a management team, sourced a new one etc etc.
We've had a good cup run yes, but we don't exactly break even on the normal income do we?
To quantify the exact amount, I'd need to know what David Weir and his backroom team have cost us (so far), which is something that quite rightly has been kept private so far.
Anyone that thinks he's rode in and spent a pound has little idea of the real world![]()
Foxy LoughboroBlade thanks for the replies. I understand what you say, and it all makes sense, but it feels a bit too much accounting and a bit lacking in excitement.
One of the things that really p!sses me off about Utd is the penny-pinching South Yorkshire attitude to transfers – it’s typical that despite at least a decade of way over-priced footballers (they even want birthday cakes these days…) our record transfer fee paid is still 'only' the £4 million for Beattie. Beyond that, I can’t remember us paying more than a couple of million for anyone (and even then we wasted it on dross like Claude Davis, last seen in Rotherham reserves). It’s one of the great myths of recent Utd history that Warnock “was given backing” when we were last in the Prem – though he didn’t help himself by wasting what money he was given on the likes of Horsfield, Akinbiyi, Fathi, Shelton and Hendrie.
Think of any other club that we might consider even remotely comparable – "small" clubs like Coventry, Wigan, Hull, Leicester, the Pigs – and you can bet they’ve pushed the boat out further than we have. I know we're subject to FPP, I know wages at our level are more of a consideration than fees, and I know the third division is a tough sell, but I would love it, love it if we actually splashed out some real cash on a big(ish) name for once - Coady would be a start, at least...
Given we've gone off topic into ownership and money...
Clough was asked regarding the budget required for promotion. The budget was agreed by the board (the Prince, his representatives and the McCabe's) and Clough is happy with this. The signings are the players he wants.
The Prince has already spent significantly (not entirely sure how people think football clubs run) and will continue to do so.
Kevin McCabe spent significantly and effectively kept the club in business. He made mistakes, he's held his hands up to them, but there's no doubting he wants the best for Sheffield United.

Foxy Ok, I'll bite. Clearly, McCabe has put plenty in over the years. Many of us would say a lot of it wasted by poor decisions on managers and players, but it's at least visible.

Bergen Blade I'm not convinced all of those were in fact higher calibre (Cuvelier, King, the loanees apart from Brayford) but I'm sure you're right about their wages, and so we can assume that without the Prince we wouldn't have been able to afford them.
Agree, poor expression to use.
Regarding your point on transfer fees, we seem to prefer spending our money on player wages instead:

Hague Blade while you're right about us not spending big on transfers, the real issue as I see it is that we've preferred to buy players at the peak of their powers rather than players who have the potential to improve (and therefore increase in value). I can't think of a single player other than Blackman that we've bought for a fee and sold on for more since we got relegated from the Premier League.
