Very underwhelming. When is the bog roll prince going to actually spend some money. These are McCabe era signings...

Sorry, but what do you expect? Do we need to spend six figure fees on players to get out of this division like Yeovil, Brentford and Doncaster have not done recently?

The phrase 'buying a sledgehammer to crack a walnut' sums up the sort of recruitment we DON'T want to be doing right now...

I'll take Clough's judgement over yours if you don't object.
Youv'e got your opinion on the signing I have mine and yes Clough's signing's have proven good so far (apart from Paynter) so he may know something that we don't and JCR is going turn into the next John Barnes now he has reached the age of 31.

I maintain however that Campbell-Ryce has done nothing so far in his ten year plus career to convince me he is a signing that enhances our chances of a top two finish.

Agree Deadly, after all, it's Clough who selects the players not the Prince.

Up until now Clough has demonstrated good judgement in the players he's brought in, so as we always do, let's get behind the new signings and show the support they say is a reason for coming here.

In a better team at this level I think he's more than capable of enhancing our chances of a top two finish, especially when part of a 'better squad'.

Two potentially good signings at both ends of the spectrum really.

Is it because hes Black ?

On paper a shocking signing, the sort of player I would expect Micky Adams to sign. I know the other week I said I would be happy to see more black players in the squad , but I meant ones who are actually any good.
What on earth has colour got to do with owt. Mentioning this is obviously just trying to stir up some shit. On the transfer I can't say as I'm dancing for joy but Nigel knows best, he's always been a player that I'd regard as dangerous but often flatters to deceive, but I remember nuddy being the same apart from a couple of seasons. We only need one from our jamal so let's just wait and see

It's amazing how many posters think we are going to use the same 11 players to start every game next season .......

Jesus fucking Christ. He is a decent solid pro, who has had a decent career, always impressed me when he has played against us, and i can't imagine he will be much more than a decent squad player who will be more than capable of doing a very decent job as and when required, and i can't imagine him being on a huge contract. Yet some of so called supporters seem to be going apeshit. I really do despair

It's interesting how Freeman played a part in the transfer, does that mean he's planning on signing as well?

Don't know if youv'e followed clough but where ever he's been he has had a very small squad and he sticks with his best eleven. The only time he doesn't is when teams go on cup runs:pSo as regards your quote mobileblade,he will use more or less the same 11 all season if he can from what iv'e seen of him.We all know thats hard with injuries and form etc but if cloughy can, he will use the same 11.Thats not to say i don't think we need JCR,the point i am trying to make in my first post on this thread is we need players in different positions first before we start getting squad players in.

Clough has said he wants a core squad of 19/20 players with the youngsters making up as required.. With wingers we currently have Flynn and Murphy. JCR can play either flank. I would suggest this is more Brandy will be going than anything.

I think you find he will be putting together a squad of 20 rather than a team of 11 even if he always goes with his best 11. It took him 2 months to find his best 11 this season I suspect it won't take him that long next time around.

I've always liked him. Quick, can dribble, good at getting crosses in and a better passer than many wingers. A decent option to Flynn, offering a bit different qualities. Notts County wanted to keep him. His career choices look strange, always playing for struggling clubs, despite his good ability. He may benefit further from playing in a team that will be high in the table.

Indeed. I actually always thought that Neil Warnock would sign him - seemed to be exactly the type of player he'd have gone for. A different option that won't break the bank that should be useful at this level - sensible signing in my mind.

Good to see that Cloughie has dipped into the transfer market with the season ending barely two weeks ago. With others no doubt on his shopping list and the release list published last week, we look like having a big turnover of players within the squad and I wouldn't be surprised if he intends to have made all his changes by the time the players report back for pre-season training.

Some interesting comments regarding todays signings. I was turning cartwheels after we signed Brandy last year, mainly because of the way he ripped us to bits at Walsall the previous season. According to some comments on here, this mirrors
J C-R's performance against us at Meadow Lane in January so therefore, i'm not getting carried away although as with all the players we sign, let's wish the lad good luck and give him a chance before we start having a pop eh?

Other than the odd video of goals that he's scored, McNulty is an unknown quantity for most of us and it'll be interesting to see how he links up with Scoogs again. Again, the boy deserves our support, patience and best wishes and we'll see the best of him i'm sure.

August 9th. Can't bloody wait if i'm honest.

It's literally impossible in this day and age to stick to a 1st 11. I believe him when he says a core squad of 20, but we'll feild at least 30 players this season. Just the way things are in this league.

I'll not be getting his name on my new Adidas shirt, I'm not made of money.

At least we don't have this guy:

Not every signing needs to be a "blockbuster".

For me, it's a solid signing and gives us a different dimension in terms of pace and he can play on either. Having players who play in the same position with varied strengths is never a bad thing. There will be plenty of times where we need to mix it up.

Honestly, I'd have subbed Matt Hill after 10 minutes. Not because he wasn't trying, but Campbell-Ryce was just having him on toast every single time. He completely rinsed him.

I know Hill isn't a world beater, but JCR has all the skill and speed we'll need. What with Murphy and Flynn, teams won't know what to do with us.

I was just thinking this morning I wonder if we'd be interested in JCR, went to look on the forum at lunchtime n we'd signed him! I'm very excited. It's May and we have a promising young striker and a tricky experienced winger. When I get paid, i'm putting a ton on us to win the thing.
