Sheff - I wasn't at Notts County mate but I read your post earlier and remembered that having listened to the game, J C-R had an enjoyable time up against Hilly.
Whereas Brandy went missing for us during games, (usually down the tunnel and into the fuckin bath!!) I can't see Cloughie standing for half hearted performances like he gave. That's probably why he shipped him out.
I do fully expect more mature and hard working performances from Campbell-Ryce when he sees what Cloughie's trying to build at The Lane.

Jamal has played 400 games and the reason is that he is good! I'm looking forward to seeing both he & Marc next season. More please, Nigel................

Clough has said he wants a core squad of 19/20 players with the youngsters making up as required.. With wingers we currently have Flynn and Murphy. JCR can play either flank. I would suggest this is more Brandy will be going than anything.

I think you find he will be putting together a squad of 20 rather than a team of 11 even if he always goes with his best 11. It took him 2 months to find his best 11 this season I suspect it won't take him that long next time around.
Could i have not put it any simpler.
Do you not think 19/20 is a small squad because i do considering most teams mainly have 25.

Also do you not see any comparisons with JCR and brandy, which we allready have at our disposal by the way, apart from the 6 year age gap, just my opinion mobile but i don't see the point of bringing someone in when we allready have a valid squad player, who is 6 years younger instead of using that money on a position we so desperately need.

Coady for instance,he's available now, albeit i think he will be in championship next year but you never know, just say that money we spent on JCR's wages could mean we didn't have enough money to get coady,a position in which we need a player, would you be happy then?(just an example mind).

I was just thinking this morning I wonder if we'd be interested in JCR, went to look on the forum at lunchtime n we'd signed him! I'm very excited. It's May and we have a promising young striker and a tricky experienced winger. When I get paid, i'm putting a ton on us to win the thing.

While you're at it fella, we would be grateful if you could have a think along similar lines tomorrow morning, whether we'd be interested in a bloke at Cardiff City called John Brayford and a kid from Liverpool called Conor Coady? Then go on the forum at lunchtime and see if you get a repeat of today? Please? ;)

Wasn't that long ago we were crying out for someone with pace to trouble the opposition, now we have pace in abundance. Wasn't the type of player I expected us to go for but a good replacement for the surely departing Brandy. His past record seems decent enough and as he points out we are the biggest club he has played for, probably now playing for the best manager he has ever played under, who I expect to coax some good performances out of him. Welcome Jamal, look forward to seeing you play.

When we played Rotherham at home, both Murphy and Flynn were missing. I know we won, but the lack of width was painfully obvious. Replay that game ten times and how many would we win? A couple?

Backup for the two wingers was high on the summer shopping list, and although JCR wasn't what I expected, he could be very useful. We won't have to change our entire system based on the loss of a player or two.

I'd suggest we'll judge his signing in the context of what else is to come. If he's the peak of our ambition it won't be good. But I doubt that's the case.

I think 19 is a small squad but some posters seem to think we will be starting with Murphy and Flynn for every game in a 50 game or so season and that is not going to happen.

In terms of JCR v Brandy - I think if you listen to Clough's interview today it said it all ... we did some research into his character and we are convinced he will fit into our SQUAD.

Everyone talking about back up for Flynn but has anyone thought maybe JCR playing wide left and using murphy as the fast central attacker so many have mentioned?

Jamie Murphy played most of the early part of his career as a striker - he is essentially a striker playing out wide - but it seems clear to me that Clough is happy with him where he is. He was swapping Murphy and Baxter round a lot towards the end of games last season, to keep the opposition on their toes (and probably to give the fat lad a breather) so he will probably mix it up in that fashion, but I don't see Murphy starting games as a striker.

Though I have said for a long time I would love to see him get a run of games playing up front off a Porter style target man, cos I'm sure he'd score a sackful. But he's being playing SO well out wide under Clough, there's no need to change it.

He's a lot better out wide. last 6 months of the season, all I can remember is watching from the Kop, every half SUFC were attacking that end, Jamie Murphy bombing down the flank and skinning a defender, poking a cross in, or going for the glory himself. He's naturally very good in that position, and creates so much.

Absolutely JD. We get this sort of nonsense every year from the hard of thinking amongst us. There are more exciting targets to (hopefully) come, but these two are a very satisfactory start.

The reference to our new owner as the "bog roll prince" is, by the way, insulting and totally un-necessary. He has already invested and more will follow.

Do people really think Nigel Clough would be here if that were not so. Jim Phipps has said publicly that Nigel has 'a generous budget for this League'. Is that a false promise? I ask for the umpteenth time, and there will be no sensible reply for the umpteenth time: What on earth have KM and HRH to gain from a sham arrangement that is absolutely bound, by it's very nature, to be exposed?

I really don't want to be associated with some of our contributors.

There's a new FA ruling comming into force next season, equal oppertunities gone mad if you aske me, we must have one gay one disabled & one ethnic minority in the teamo_O

Well Scoogs looks very happy, Collins can sometimes impress even though he limps, and if Scotland go their own way we'll have a small legion of ethnics playing for us, job done?

Yep you're right. He's hasn't spent a God damned penny yet!!!!111

We are led to believe that the BGP has money to spend in order to get us into the Premier league. Patience is one thing but when the first two through the door are a League 1 has been and a Scottish no-hoper then I remain to be convinced.

Mickey Jupp, apart from reaching a conclusion before you've seen our new player from Scotland, you're already labelling him a 'no-hoper'. I'd love to know why you think your judgements are better than our manager's? It's Clough who selects the players who come to SUFC, not the Prince, so take a pill or two mate, chill out, give everyone a chance before jumping to conclusions.

As for what the Prince has spent so far.....it's been well documented on this forum, so upwards of £2-3 million at the last count. Maybe not a lot to yourself, but not insignificant amounts by my reckoning. Sorry you're not convinced, maybe a note to Nigel letting him know how poorly he's performing?

So who do you think we should be in the market for then seeing as were still in League 1 & have to cope with FFP.

Its not like we can sign the Ronaldos of this world.

It is exceedingly unlikely that convincing you figures on anyone's To-Do list.

Is there now a rule that players must be signed in chronological order according to quality? First must be best? A remarkable and puzzling development, if so.

What or Who is the BGP?
