If the bid is actually minimum £8m, I would also sell

Rightly or wrongly, yesterday I saw him in a slightly different light, almost as if he's had his head turned by the interest in him. Perhaps I'm doing him a disservice because he's been brilliant for us
 
If Bryan is capable, and we bring in another centre half, and use the 8 million or whatever to bring in a younger Duffy, then sell. A striker should be coming in regardless.

If we sell him and there's no further activity, then what's the point?
 
Apparently we had Cooper and Saville watched yesterday at Millwall.
 
Good player, but yet another we could've had last summer for very little.

He'd be a good signing but not a direct replacement because he won't get forward in the same way.

I don't think we're selling O'Connell anyway. Unless we get a bid over £10m.

And there's another we could've had for very little last summer. Saville cost about 500k and will now be about £5m.

Very good player, a real all rounder.
 
Ive mentioned him in previous posts,he is a player/defender i admire very similar to Aiden Flint.

But Millwall are not going to let him go this close to the window shutting,they would want every penny of the JOC fee if they did.

wow actually want to sell o'connell, hope you realise that if we do sell him the money we get won't be reinvested

Sorry, it’s reyt. You don’t sell the best centre half in the division for a measly 8million when Ben Gibson is going for 15.

Moreso, why do you want to sell him in the first place? Because of one dodgy performance against Swansea?

It’s not like he’s in the bracket of Lundstram, Stevens etc - he’s one of our best 3 players.

He's not the best centre half in the division though is he ?
He's not even close ,in fact I'm not even sure he can play centre half as he gets badly exposed on the left of a three enough times

And if he isn’t the best he’s in the top 3.

I stick with mine

Minimum £8m and on proviso CW has a replacement and he can go for me

As FM says, it isn't just about yesterday, his form wasn't the same the latter part of last season.

Something about his persona yesterday imho that didn't look right. Head turned because of Brighton? Who knows?

He's a good player, but not indispensable and every player has their price including JOC ans if true CW is looking at another CB then I wonder why because we have Stearman and Wright and brought in Egan
 
If we sell JOC we have to change the whole system or find another him.

He’s the perfect LCB.

Well for a start he doesn't play centre half so how you can rate him in the top three is a mystery to me
He has looked dead on his feet since last December, put this down to being played every game under wilder but he has come back after pre season looking exactly the same

All of our back three yesterday were awful defensively if you think he played well that probably explains why you're calling people fucking pricks for having a different opinion

It’s the way we’re playing it not the system itself. We’re labouring, slow, ponderous in midfield. Sideways passing and possession for the sake of it that we never did before Burton away. Coutts isn’t far off now, would be mad to change the system to something the players aren’t used to only to change it back when he’s fit again.

Also playing Duffy makes us a 100x better.

I’ve not said he played well. Show me where I’ve said that, actually on another thread I said he was terrible.

But I’m not about to say we should cash in, for a wank price, after ONE bad performance.

If our system doesn't work when one dude isn't playing, then it's not going to be an efficient system.

I agree, it's relatively good when Duffy is playing, and will probably see us well, ish.

The system isn’t the problem, it’s the way we’re deploying it.

And I don’t disagree it’s not efficient but the time to change it was March last year, when it clearly wasn’t working. Not now.

Would be a lot better if we had a competent player at left wing back and a striker with some pace to stretch the game.
