Macca did seem to be talking him up in the pre match. If that is the case I would expect Khadra to be going back in January
Makes you think they won't risk Berge.

He gave an off the cuff comment but he's fine now but I bet they'll decide not to risk him.

Why would they? Play McAtee on the right and bring Doyle in for a start.

Hecky clearly is resistant to starting McAtee and Doyle together, i think he does not believe they have the discipline to hold the midfield defensively.

The last time they started together we got over run in midfield against Blackpool and would have lost except for Blackpool having two men sent off.

McAtee, Norwood and Doyle is a very small and lightweight midfield. The youngsters are both not great with the off-the-ball work he prioritises. I suspect that's one reason for being reluctant to start them. The other is probably the fact that both struggle to play 90 minutes. Doyle can but he'd probably not be able to start the next game. Not great to have to substitute 2/3s of your midfield regardless of how we're doing. Especially when the replacements may be Bash and Brooks.

Do you think he may have been sold? No substance to it just throwing it out there
He was struggling after that bad tackle and played through so could
be rested to ensure he is fit for Monday. Lowe was also struggling at the end of the game and kept rubbing his thigh. . Hopefully just cramp but may also be rested i reckon

3-0 up, twenty minutes to go, would have thought it would be an ideal time to bring Bogle on.
Late on we needed fresh legs, if Bogle didn't put a tackle in it would be no worse than Berge.
Hindsight is great, isn't it?

So, down to 10 men, getting a bit of a bombardment, you're going to bring a small RWB on in midfield? Berge is poor in the air, but not as poor as Bogle. I'm pretty sure had this happened and Bogle hadn't tracked a runner (he'd never been trained to do) and they got back in it then the manager would have been at fault.

Sometimes you need to take one to see out a game. I'm pretty sure if Hecky 'protected the players' and the subs made mistakes and Coventry got a draw then the manager would be clueless.

Don't think it has anything to do with hindsight. There are times late on in a game when we are crying out for fresh legs in midfield, to close down the opposition and to stop them playing. Berge, carrying a knock, didn't do anything to justify staying on the pitch. Their goal came about after he failed to get six inches off the ground.
Everyone in the ground knew Berge wasn't fit and should have come off.
Bogle has been on the bench for the last couple of matches and needs game time, he should have come on. As for tracking a runner, I'm sure Bogle knows to do that.

No, just when they’ve got a “slight knock” you tend not to see them for a few weeks!

I know football management isn’t a computer game, but you look at the size out squad & depth & we really need to use that to our advantage over the next month.

We have strength in depth everywhere so let’s not physically kill our strongest 11 every week when we can rotate the odd player here/ there & they’re fully capable of putting in a good performance without adding any weakness

Rumours Arblaster has done his ACL
Hopefully wrong, as it's one of the worst you can get
Fingers crossed
Hope not.

But despite our best efforts were still down:
O'Connell
Norrington-Davies
Egan
Coulibaly
Osborn
Arblaster
Fleck
McBurnie
Brewster

You can take Egan off that list no?

We really need McBurnie back out of that lot. Love Billy and he'll score more this season, but the lack of a dangerous option (whether Billy or Ollie) on the bench is really hampering us.

A miraculous recovery for Brewster would be just as well received.

And there you go, the worst header of the ball comes up with a cracking clearance from the ball into the box which leads directly to our second goal. Funny old game isn't it.

Evening all,

Another win on the road and no more injuries to contend with. Good times!

The big plus for me was Heckingbottom's substitutions. It's the first time I've seen him make proactive changes to give us a bit more energy in areas where it was needed.
We've got a cracking bench when the majority are available, it's about time we used it to our advantage... (someone just needs to give him a nudge and let him know we're allowed to make up to 5 subs).

As above, no new injuries to contend with, but Oli Arblaster is seemingly unavailable due to reasons unknown.
I really like Arblaster, seems a top young lad, a Blade and a really talented player with a bright future. A loan would do him good.

The transfer window is now open.
Would like to see Khadra (return to BHA) and Jebbison (on loan) moved out with a CF brought in. We're really thin on the ground up there.
If I was being greedy, a strong DM would really benefit this side too.

Revised guesses below:

O McBurnie - January 2023 (3 weeks) - aggravated ankle ligaments

I Coulibaly - January 2023 (5 months) - knee ligaments

B Osborn - February 2023 (6 weeks) - hamstring strain

J Fleck - March 2023 - swelling around previously broken leg (4 months)

R Brewster - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

R Norrington-Davies - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

O Arblaster - unavailable - reason unknown.

J O'Connell - unlikely to return (2.5 years+) - knee

Onto QPR then, can see us rotating the wing backs again to manage fitness levels.
Suspect we won't see McBurnie until after the FA Cup game to Millwall.

Team to face QPR:

......................Wes
......... Anel.... Egan.... Basham
Baldock..............................Lowe
......Berge...Norwood...McAtee
....................Ndiaye
.....................Sharp

JOC, Lowe, RND, Fleck, Osborn, Arblaster, Coulibaly, McBurnie and Brewster. (9) That's no Khadra aswell.

Touching double figures again.
