If we are pessimistic then ....

A lot is said about our pessimism, but it's well justified by past events. It's also a tactic used to try to not get too far ahead of ourselves.
Even some Liverpool fans are pessimistic at the moment, they've thrown the title away a couple of times in the last 10 years and some of them think they'll throw it away again this year, they're humble enough to be pessimistic.

As far as Wendy are concerned, pessimism doesn't exist because what could possibly go wrong.
When things do go wrong it hasn't even happened, it just gets rejected from the memory bank and they start clapping again
They're too stupid and arrogant to be pessimistic

My pessimism is purely down to the fact that I don’t believe in counting my chickens. I’d love to be like blade too long and his ilk as they are relentlessly optimistic. However it’s in my nature to talk about what’s been achieved rather than what can be achieved. There’s a variety of viewpoints on here and I’m fairly convinced that although they all seem barmy as batshit and completely delusional there must be a pig with a sensible head on their shoulders somewhere amongst the 500k of them.

Killing 96 people, having players sent to prison and being within hours of oblivion didn't change them, what are these events you speak of?
You forgot not paying taxes or NI , chairman Sueing there own fans co-op paying off a 1.2 million tax bill to keep em going before writing off north of 15 million , then being bought for a pound.
Ohh I forgot they had the Sheffield children’s hospital on front of there shirts while not paying tax or. NI , don’t forget the safety certificates
Then the unfortunate incident of the 96
Then sacking people on Christmas Eve
The list goes on and on and on

A lot of Wednesdays current outward optimism comes from desperation. They simply can't accept we are so far above them again so are just saying things like "we've still got a chance" because reality is too hard to take. They're trying to convince themselves more than anything.

You only have to look on their board to see how almost every discussion mentions us in some way. They were never this optimistic and boisterous even when they were in the top 6 under Carlos. It's all bravado and blind hope because the reality is just hard to stomach.

Their entire season is once again likely to be defined by us and whether we go up and they've spent millions to be in this position.

It's everything you say Roy, but there's far, far more that's worrying about their club and the quality of their Chairman. Even their own fans criticise those who advise Chansiri. They think he's being taken to the cleaners by advisers who are overpaid and not sufficiently clued-up about what's in their club's best interests. As you say, any comments about the play-offs seems to compound their desperation, it's as if they'll say anything rather than accept that yet another season has passed by. I wouldn't mind, but they had six seasons to sort this out. While we were in Division 1 they had ample opportunity to sign the type of players that Wilder has been so cute in identifying and signing. By equating big money signings with success they've fallen into the trap of imagining that spending millions is all it takes to be successful.

As we well know, a team is built in the image of it's manager. We've had poor to middling managers before, and it was with Wilder's arrival that our fortunes turned around. Wendy have actually taken steps backward over the last couple of years, under their current owner they are blinkered to the fact that from top to bottom they are in deep, deep trouble. He has gone on record as saying that unless they achieve promotion this season they will have to confront several worrying home truths, which in Chansiri-speak means that the fans will be asked/expected to dig even deeper into their own pockets if they want success. Chansiri might be thick when it comes to football, but he clearly recognises the cash cow that is their fan base - more of the same owls, austerity rules at the sty!

You'd think there'd be some reasonable ones about here and there, and I'm sure there are. But I've even found the reasonable ones to have the same delusional traits but just in smaller amounts. They'll just stop a discussion if I don't agree with them and it's not going their way rather than raise their voice and argue the toss

Its the culture of a club ,but cultures can be changed .it just takes events to change them

Well, they've been relegated to the Third Division three times, and never come back at the first attempt.
So if that isn't enough to change their deluded attitude I don't know what is

Boxing day
The semi.final
Chedgate

Until things like this go In our favour and against them they will be glass half full and we will always be glass half empty

There’s a thread on PorkTalk about them signing Ademola Lookman, even titled ‘deal done’. Amazing.

We’ll both be in the same league next season. We’re like two bald men arguing over a comb.

The only pig fan I know( a member of my DBS team at the hospital) is hoping they can avoid relegation but he’s not optimistic!!. He says that a top half finish is beyond them!!!. He says that the whole club is in a big mess and doesn’t think Bruce will improve things?. He’s a fairly decent fella and reckons that we’re going up either automatically or the playoffs. He thinks wilder is a genius!!!.
Can’t fault his logic on that. UTB

Don't forget bringing match fixing to the game in the 60's

How do they smash FFP tho Tezza?

They are reported to have already broken FFP so that means another embargo. (rumour knocking about that they are already back under another "secret" embargo) How does Bruce go about signing Messi and Ronaldo with another embargo in place?

I haven’t heard they are under embargo, it would have been mentioned in the conversation I had on Saturday night, I’ve been told he’ll break the team up and chansiri will have the money to spend, they will break ffp, it’s just a matter of weather it’s this year or next.. chansiri is frustrated at the unfairness that the relegated teams can just keep spending (as he sees it) and he can’t.. the development that his dad is getting involved would probably provide a huge amount of cash to be injected into the club, co owners?

He’s valued the club at £200mill so if he sells 50% to dad then there’s £100mill invested, wouldn’t put that past him one bit..
