Hendo and Berge, a pair to relish....
🤐

I'll get mi coat and go and check mi bread....

This thread is dragging arse!!
Jesus! One guy thinks Henderson should have been on his toes for the 1st Newcastle goal... you don’t! Great! 👍
It’s turned into bickering lads. Let’s agree to disagree and get the good vibes going for the game today! UTB

I have got it clear now. He should have rushed out to prevent the 1st goal v Newcastle, and stayed on his line to prevent Arsenal’s 2nd. In both cases having anticipated an error from Enda. That requires superhuman brain activity. And great mature keepers don’t get beaten at the near post, so De Gea can’t have let in that 1st goal v Bournemouth yesterday. Aim for perfection and learn constantly, but don’t jump to conclusions from decisions that don’t work out. And trying to block with your feet (as with Kane’s disallowed goal) is all the rage with coaches now. I don’t think you can prove scientifically whether hands or feet work better in each specific case, but that one did not look good (did Kane miskick it?).

I think Henderson’s a good keeper, but if he’s got a weakness, his positioning is questionable at times.
Off the top of my head, Ritchies goal v Newcastle, Deulofeus goal v Watford at home, and the Arsenal winner the other night we’re all much easier finishes than they should have been, due to his poor positioning.

It’s certainly an area of his game that he could improve upon

Poor game by his high standards. Not sure what he was trying to accomplish with those two long shots he pushed straight back out in front of him. We're lucky to get away with them.

Agree. Did he think the ball was a hot potato today ? Commentator said it was due to the movement in flight but when it was slowed down for the replay the ball never moved 🤷‍♂️
At the very least Henderson should be trying push the ball out wide not back into the middle of the penalty area.

Henderson looks to be lacking a lil confidence at the min. A think the wind played a factor in his reluctance to come out and claim some loose balls, Baldock gave him a look at one point when he had thump one out for a throw when Deano could have come for it.

Egan did the same near the end

There are people on here who will tell you they were 2 world class saves...

On his day he’s a great shot stopper but his aerial game is poor.
We have defenders and some of the front men help out Maca and Didsy who he relies on to deal with high balls in the six yard always rooted to his line.
A decent keeper will be high on CWs shopping list before the next campaign

Nick Pope I hope - rhyme of the day

I am an admirer of Henderson, but he got lucky with those 2. But it is almost the end of the season, and he has just 1 howler to his name (v Liverpool at home). And a few other goals where there are doubts. That’s a pretty good achievement.

There are also people on here who will be able to understand the circumstances and see that he actually dealt with both situations quite well.

You’re not the only one related to current and ex professional goal keepers...

There was at least 2 occasions today where he claimed balls in the air in or around the 6 yard box. Even when the ball was swirling around in the wind. I’ve seen nothing to suggest his ‘aerial game’ is poor at all. How many have we conceded this season from such situations?

Great input.

If you believe parrying the ball down to the opposition's player in the middle of the goal about 12 yards out is "dealing with it well" then you're entitled to your opinion, however strange it may be.

Did you miss the bit where the ball was moving about all over the place?

I think he's seemed a little distracted & a little off since lockdown. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I hope he hasn't bought into his own hype a little too much & is annoyed he's not being brought back to replace DDG.

He's very young & he's being very well rewarded by that club. Another couple of years on loan with us would seem to be a good move all round but I wouldn't be surprised to see him try & force a permanent move through this Summer to Chelsea.
