To travelling Bladesmen and women,

You may be aware that operation Stack has closed much of Kent during the last few months, due to French industrial action and migrants at the Channel tunnel. This stopped traffic on the M20 and increased traffic on the M2,

It has just been announced that lorries will now be parking at the old Manston airport, should Stack be called. This will further increase traffic on the M2. As its new no one knows the impact but my advice would be to allow extra time to get to Gillingham.

Yes, we all know Gillingham is a dump and don't want to spend any longer than needed there, However, I'd rather be there with a pint in hand than stuck on the motorway looking at it!

If I hear any more I will add to this post.

Equally, you may prefer to park away from Gillingham and get the train in. Safer parking and avoid the motorways.

Those travelling by rail be aware that the direct service from London St Pancras to Gillingham is replaced for part of its journey by a bus due to engineering work.

The best way to go is to get the Victoria line to London Victoria, and get a train to Gillingham from there (07 and 37 minutes past every hour from Victoria).

Allow half an hour to cross London, then journey time from London Victoria is 50 minutes.

But if you're north of Seven Sisters on the Victoria Line there's no service at all on Saturday, or the rest of August in fact...With the service on the rest of the Victoria Line operating with delays/restrictions...bear that in mind too...

I can't see operation stack affecting the motorway that far north. I was in Ashford a few weeks ago and that was difficult to get to.

Bear in mind Gillingham is right at the start of the M2. Folkestone and Dover are both >50miles south.

However, i assume you will know better than us northerners!! :)

For those travelling by car you don't need to go on the m2 when you come to where the a2 and m2 split follow signs for the a289 which will take you to lower gillingham there are signs for priestfield along the way

Anyone going to Gillingham must be mad...........

That's why:

They're coming to take me away Ha Ha
They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha
