This is what I have been told.

COH still committed but are struggling to raise interest from new Investors, club needs Premier League football or will need fully restructuring on a “self sustaining model” from next summer.

Dore site.. one of Wilders first questions on his return was on the progress on this development and was told candidly the money is just not there to move forward on the project as it stands, we would need money from promotion this season otherwise forget about it for the foreseeable future.

Two lists of target signings are being drawn up for January, one for if we are mid table and are looking to push for play offs, the second if we need to fight relegation and with an eye on affordability for next season, the position of the club in December will determine the targets.

Wilder unhappy with many of the summer signings especially the loans and especially unhappy with the outgoings, Moore in particular.

Main driver for me though will be in the treatment room. If we can get Tom Davies and Arblaster together for a sustained period I think we’ll show ourselves to be one of the best teams in the league.
I think this is a key point.
Those two together, along with Hamer and Peck, should be a formidable midfield.
Please make it happen

Well the likes of Moore going is off the back of not getting promoted. So of these issues are his legacy from not getting promotion.

Was thinking that. Anel & Souza were always going so you can only assume that Robinson & RND would have kept their places had Wilder stayed in the summer.

The disaster of possible relegation is down to the owners miss management! They have to fund a way out of this and it won't be cheap.Alternative is possibly league one which would mean there investment would lose a lot of value.
On top of the cost of running a championship club with no parachute money to fall back on.
The perils of owning a football club today.!

We had as many as 7 refereeing decisions go against us today. Not many teams can swim against that sort of tide.

But parking the micro view I feel something will click soon and we’ll go on a run.

Where that will lead us I’m not going to predict something outlandish but plenty of teams near the top are failing to stride away; 6 draws tonight and we lost after an atrociously corrupt referee performance against a parachute team.

The line up is edging in the right direction in my view.

They need more time on the training ground but I do feel three at the back works better for this group. Cohesion and consistent selection will reduce individual errors.

Not sure he’s fully a wing back but Ogbene is having an impact each game.

O’Hare and Hamer together will grow in confidence and once Ings is fit, him and Campbell will be two clinical options.

Main driver for me though will be in the treatment room. If we can get Tom Davies and Arblaster together for a sustained period I think we’ll show ourselves to be one of the best teams in the league.

We do need to get going soon but we’re creating more and edging towards some sort of shape that I think will start to see us firing. Players like Hamer will start to flourish soon now the players are starting to have a little more clarity.

One unfortunate result after an outlier of a reffing performance shouldn’t mask the direction of travel.

Keep the faith

I'm told two PL clubs were very interested in taking 'Blaster before her was injured. If he gets back to his former level, he won't be here long, I imagine.

All relegated teams put in decent performances now and then, get a few wins, etc.
We need another 47 points and despite an improvement last night it is hard to see where they're coming from.
When Davies gets injured again and without Blaster (whose absence grows more and more concerning for his long-term future) our midfield looks desperately light and it's difficult to see how we're going to create enough chances to stay up.

We need a striker in the next window. One who scores goals now not ten years before half a dozen bad injuries. If the owners don't want to be stewarding a league one club that have to find some serious money.

Moore left because we had a manager who thought he didn’t need a big man up front because he was going to tiki taka it around every team on the way to getting promoted. In reality we need a big man up front as an option because Campbell and Cannon having 20 touches in 20 games between them isn’t going to be any good.

We got what we paid for him and is money back into the club.

We don't create many chances. We struggle to progress the ball. We have one CF. We are only hitting the target with 18% of shots.

We are shaky defensively, teams find it easy to progress the ball to the edge of our box. We are currently worse in at least 9 of 11 positions than at this time last season (Tanganga and maybe O'Hare are better)

We need to improve in a lot of areas, just to stay competitive on a consistent basis.

I heard we'd contacted David Lloyd (the people who came second in the bidding process) to see if they were interested in leasing the site from us...

I can’t really dispute that as it’s factual. But we got rid of him because Selles was delusional about how this season was going to pan out.
Getting rid of Moore was the right decision, as was passing on McBurnie...

Not upgrading on Campbell with a much more athletic and dynamic player was the fuck up in this scenario. Anyone who watched us last season could see our issues with playing a static CF and this season our static CF is now a fat & out of shape static CF...

We’re in a relegation fight, anything above 17th this season is a massive result. The longer we keep pretending we’re a promotion contender the worse it’s going to be.

Southampton beat us at a canter yesterday, putting aside the awful ref they could have easily scored a couple more and stepped off us in the last 10.
Beat us at a canter?, not sure what game you were watching but that is complete rubbish. Are we just going to disregard the good chances we had and the perfectly good goal that was disallowed?.

I really don’t want to concede that point.

But the owners will look back on the calamitous few months spell July to September when they got well ahead of their capability.

The league will be there for the taking this season. We will fail to capitalise because Sellés left us with nothing. Not a single scraped point. Also a transfer policy that saw us fail to capture valuable freebies in Dunne, Darling and McBurnie, all of which would have joined Wilder and be in the starting XI.

Instead we ended up with Tanganga, McGuinness and Godfrey for about 13m and ridiculous wages and a lack of ability in the latter’s case. We lost most of the physicality of the team offloading Souza and Moore and not replacing that. Absolute disaster of a summer of negligence when tinkering would have done.

So some shite team that wasn’t worthy of wiping the shit off our shoe last season is probably going to go up only this time the wounds are purely self inflicted all because the owners couldn’t leave well alone.

We’re only 10 points off the play offs with 38 games to go.

Main hope is can Arblaster come back and run games after such an absence and can Davies stay fit alongside him. That miracle is the thread upon which any sense of achievement this season hangs.
Can't see why we can't do top 6 if we carry on the turn round, and blaster and Davies are available. Ings contribution and the stronger back line.
If we are flying at the end of the season then playoffs would feel more positive than they did last season.

I obviously hope you're right.. but you're asking this team to suddenly become about the third best side in the division for the rest of the season (we'll need approx. 1.75ppg now to make 6th).

Last season, Souttar, Anel, Souza & JRS would've walked into 20+ other sides in the division.
Their replacements; Mee, McGuinness, Matos/Soumaré & Ogbene are mid-to-low level Championship players.
They're huge downgrades.

Cooper is a shadow of his old self (probably injured) as is Hamer (speculating, but looks to have mentally checked out after the failed PSV move).

I appreciate the optimism, but it isn't going to happen. The impact of a poor Summer has well & truly set in and we're reaping the rewards.

Poor ownership.

Yes but they knew best, eh?

Apologies for my misery, I may well be depressed.
Football is only enjoyable when you win.

I wasn't having a go at you - apologies if it came across as if I was.
It is was just that the more I read of your post, the more Marvin the Paranoid Android (from HHGTTG) and his neverending gloominess came into my head. So I googled him to try and make a jokey response to your post - in the hope of making you laugh and cheering you up, really - and found some gloomy Marvin GIFs that seemed to match your post quite well.

As I say, it was meant to be a joke (I find Marvin hilarious), sorry if it didn't come across like that.

I saw enough last night to suggest we can avoid relegation but lower mid table is the best we can hope for. Only a miracle window in January - where we add pace and a midfield that has some capability - would give us a chance of finishing higher - but players who could turn it around won’t come if we are in the bottom six. A massive failure and waste of the final parachute season. Heads should roll for what’s happened.

And we come full circle back to a run of the mill championship club (if we avoid relegation), working on the fantasy McCabe model of being self sustaining. COH got us in this mess so should put their hands in their deep pockets to sort it out. But hey ho, they’ve turned out to be the latest in a line of c*nt owners (excluding The Prince, who put the club first).

More likely CoH will already be looking to bail out and cut their losses. US businesses / investors are not involved for long term projects. This was a gamble that has failed ….. I think they will cash out at a big loss within the next 12 months… I suspect that many investors will have lost interest in us already.

We need to come good soon because 2 or 3 more games without positive results and we’re very much in a relegation fight for the remainder of the season. We look devoid of fight, lacking any attacking potency and extremely susceptible to any kind of pressure on the defence. Not a good combination.
We’re already in 1.
3 goals in 8 games isn’t mid table form, I’ll tell thee that for nowt 😳

My general opinion is that this has generally gone badly wrong and probably since late Jan there haven't been many decisions that have worked for us. With the exception of Tanganga, we seem to have signed very badly so far (including Jan with Cannon and big loan fees for players), the players who were getting away with being passengers are now getting found out (O'Hare - maybe just me with that view), players having a had a decent season that have to back it up haven't so far (Burrows), some seem to have given up and confidence players have lost it. Others are just a head scratcher (Cooper).

We have spent decent money during this period - transfers or wage commitments. I think it will get better, but it may take a while. As it stands, even for the most hopeful, we're going to need to win ~3 out of 5 games from here to make the playoffs. To view this as anything other than getting out of the bottom three is very optimistic. After this season....tbc.

Main point from this ramble is that 'to come good' is now probably for next season, and by then it's a whole different ball game with players, wages and ability to operate, financially. Shame that money is one of the key considerations for everything, but as is modern football.
