My Mum died last November after following our lot since the late 50s and as we're slowly working through a lifetime of belongings we've come across boxes and boxes of programmes. Unfortunately we can't keep them (we live on a boat so storage is tight) but it really goes against the grain to bin them - so if anyone would like any of this just drop me a PM.

The progs run from the 99/00 season up to the 14/15 season but with the bulk being between 02/03 and 08/09. There's a couple of oddities in there like the friendly against Chengdu Blades and the testimonial for Dane (what a weekend that was!)

Can I just say keep a few for your self's as a memory of you mum .i have done the same and it makes me smile every time I get the items out . good look finding a new home for your mums Precious items and love them as much as your mum did

Thanks for the advice mate. We're hanging on to some from the 71/72 season and passing some other older ones down the family (including a 1948 Boys Book of Soccer - in full colour!)

Really sorry for your loss. It’s always a tough time dealing with the emotions of losing a close one and dealing with the practicalities that arise. My father in law loves programme collecting and your mums programmes would certainly be loved! If they’re still available he would be happy to have them. Many thanks

We're over on the Chesterfield Canal by Retford but the progs are at Mum's place in Dronfield. Given I only ride a motorbike and might struggle to carry 140 progs is there any way we could meet in Dron and perhaps have a pint afterwards?

Sounds like a good plan! I’ll get in touch with Pete to see if he’d like to meet up too. He was born and bred in Newton Abbot and is a massive fan of Torquay Utd, but since I married his daughter he has also taken in lots of Blades games over the years, home and away. He’s a proper football man and programme geek! I’m not too familiar with Dronfield pubs so happy for you to take a lead on that. Once Pete has got back to me I’ll be better placed to arrange when and what time. Cheers Sheepdip

A family friend of ours who’d followed United home and away since the 60’s sadly passed away right on the eve of Wilder’s first league game at Bolton. I always wonder what he’d have made to all of this.

She was certainly one of a kind!

Her Dad was one of those people who came back from WW1 to find no "Land fit for heroes" having been sunk three times including Jutland. He tried to make a better new world by getting involved in the Esperanto Movement and joined the Communists which led to him taking part in the Kinder Trespass (which led to the formation of our National Parks).

From this upbringing Mum toyed with Judaism and Communism - and was Derbyshire's second Queen's Guide (but was caught at a Scout camp do they didn't give it her for decades!).

But sport was her thing. Her (second?) cousins we're the Shaw brothers who played at full back for us and knew Cec Coldwell pretty well from his days at Norton Woodseats (her second team ). Praise and Grumble was a fixture as were the sports pages of the Star and Derbyshire Times.. She played cricket to as high a level as a woman could in those days and followed every ball of both England and Derbyshire.

Looking back, it's a comfort and relief that she got to see the first few years of CWAK - she loved the away win at Leeds!!!

She was 88 when she died following complications with a broken leg. A good innings well played though.

Sorry to hear of your sad loss - losing a mum is a very emotional and trying experience.

The collection sounds great and I'm sure that whoever gets it will cherish it in the way you would want them to . The top item for me would be the 1948 Boys Soccer Album which , along with the 1949 Stanley Matthews Album I owned and loved for many years .
