First XI for Palace

I'm intrigued to see what the plan is for Saturday. We have precious little by way of attacking threat available, don't have the players to dominate possession and hold the ball, so our best bet is going to be try and counter and at least with Osula & Traore we have a little bit of pace in the team. I'd be tempted to put Larouchi in too to add a little more dynamism too, so with that in mind I'd go for:

Foderingham

Baldock
Anel
Egan
Robinson
Larouchi

Norwood
Souza
Slimane

Traore
Osula

I think if we play Larouchi we need to keep Robinson in for now as a whole new left side of the defence isn't ideal. That's at least a solid midfield 3, if uninspiring. Norwood & Souza can sit and hopefully Slimane has the legs to get forward to support the attackers. Would need Baldock & Larouchi to help us get up the pitch quickly when the opportunity is there.
I think it will be trusty/Lowe on the left at the back. I wouldn't be surprised if souza doesn't play from the start either depending on his fitness. I don't think he's been training with lommel in pre season, rather doing his own individual stuff.

If he wants to include Souza, it could be:

Wes

Baldock Ahmedhodzic Egan Trusty Lowe

Slimane Norwood Souza Osborn

Osula

Not looking great either.
Bench, something like:

Davies
Basham
Robinson
Larouci
Neal
Brooks
Marsh
Traore
Hackford

9 subs this season, and with more injury time expected, they will probably be used a bit more than before.

Not sure if Souza or McBurnie will be fit enough. If not I prefer the look of Bergens team. Looks a bit more solid.

Wes
Anel, Egan, Trusty
Baldock Slimane, Souza, Osbourne, Lowe
Osula, McBurnie

Who we missing then, Bogle, fleck, Brewster, mcburnie, jebbison, RND, coulibaly? Jesus

I’m thinking the same. Did Trusty and Lowe play together in the behind closed doors game vs Stuttgart?

In my darker moments, I think about putting JLT at LWB, giving us our best defensive back 5. I think that attacking creativity might have to go on the back burner until new recruits arrive. We will probably have to rely on fast breaks and set pieces - Robbo brings something to the latter.

I am far from having given up hope, but I’m also anxious to avoid a first day battering, which would put a big dent in an already bruised morale. I was concerned at the body language second half vs Stuttgart.

I also really hope that Souza can start - we can’t have people running through our midfield like Stuttgart did in the ‘public’ friendly.

Fingers crossed, and up the Blades.

I'd like to think a couple of the 7 who's been injured may make the bench.

I think trusty and Lowe did play in that 2nd game together. Trusty is more of a goal threat at set pieces than JLT although he doesn't have the LT, have we ever scored from one of those? I also hope souza can/will play, if not eze will be taking the piss again 🤦.

Palace aren't that great though, without zaha, olise injured, guieta wants to leave. They've brought in lerma in midfield. It's a golden chance but with our current side I don't envisage anything beyond a draw at best, unless we can get a set piece goal and defend.

If your including Larouchi I assume you haven't been to all the pre season friendlies he's played in.
He's a million miles off first team quality.

I'd maybe sacrifice a striker and play Osborne as a man marker on eze

Concurr with this…..just seen that Ross Barkley has signed for Luton, where are scouts looking and why are we not getting anyone over the line……utter shambles

The last thing I want is overpaid washed up 'stars' like Barkley. After his Chelsea contract, he will be on a six figure weekly wage.
He did it for Wendy as a kid and was decent in his early Everton career, but has done nothing recently.

He did nothing at Chelsea and is a classic 'don't you know who I am' superstar.

FFS, whichever team we put out will be so limited I've decided to up my pre-match pints from 4 to 6. Sorry to those on my row in the South Stand as I'll likely need a piss in the 23rd and 78th minute, as well as a cheeky ones at HT.

Based on what Hecky said in the presser today I think the Rodley, Yogi and others team is most likely (not many other options)

He said Souza is not ready but will have to be involved in some capacity.

Injured players getting better but not ready for this Saturday. Said we are very stretched.

I'm guessing if he did want to beef up the midfield and only play one up top it would have to be Neal or Brooks.

Bench is going to be a lot of kids !!!

3-4-3
Wes
Anel, Egan,JLT
Baldock Sousa, Norwood, Lowe
Slimane,osula, traore
If Sousa gets knackered bring Ossie on
Or 3-4-2-1
