I don’t have a clue what will happen with ndiaye. Not rejected the contract but not accepted it. Been stalling for ages. He even got dropped from the u23s. Nathan hemmings was telling me he’s the best player from academy they’ve seen in years (same people who saw brooks) and that wilder had said he was in his plans to be the starting number 10 in the championship but won’t play unless he signs the contract

That’s not good. He can’t afford to stall his progress at his age. De Girolamo showed how even the most promising careers are on a knife edge, and an injury can render you valueless in an instant.

It’s less of a jump than it would be for Gordon or Lopata though. How good is the Belgian league? Genuine question, because if we think the youth players are good enough for the Jupiler, why aren’t they good enough for the championship? Or is it a case of loaning them out because there are too many senior players blocking their path? That makes sense with the strikers, because we’ve got almost enough to keep Warnock happy, and probably full backs too but unless we start doing some business, we’re a bit light in central defence and midfield. We seem to be treating the Jupiler league as an alternative to L1.
It is but the lack of evidence of struggle gives them more of a chance of being at that standard as all we’ve seen from them is them dominate the 23’s where as we’ve seen smith had bad patches at Swindon. Does that make sense? I’ve worded it terribly. I’d say that it probably is minimum championship standard with some teams and players being well above that almost like a league full of parachute payment champ teams that have retained some top players like buendia, berge and sarr in recent years.

In terms of our youngsters in the case of seriki I think Norwich’s interest in bogle never solidified and Celtic got nowhere near our asking price for baldock so there isn’t a spot to guarantee him first team minutes this year. I think he’s probably ready to at least test himself at that sort of level. The others I’d have more concerns about being near to ready unless it’s someone like Lowe.

He’s obviously still really young but he’s no jebbison young. He needs to be playing games at his age and I don’t see him having that chance by moving to a prem team for example. All that will happen is he’ll play u23s and then released or sent on numerous loan moves further down the pyramid than us

One thing which has just occurred is that if it’s some of the younger 23’s the intention might not be for them to go and play first team but rather for them to go and play academy football almost like an Erasmus scheme to go and hear fresh voices and face the challenge of living abroad for a year

Can i just say, it is great to see us actually use the United World for it's purpose, a mutually beneficial parent/feeder club relationship seems like quite a rarity and we really seem to have cracked it going by early indications. Much better than the superficial ties we had in Hungary/China under KM, we actually have an international scouting and development pathway for players, and a way to get around the new pesky work permit regs, Well done prince!

No, it doesn’t and yes you have. 😂

I think you’re saying that because Gordon and Lopata haven’t yet had to prove themselves in men’s football, they’ll be better than players who have proved themselves in men’s football. Which I disagree with. Both Smith and Slater managed to force themselves into their first teams towards the back end of last season and, IMO, have proven they can deal with adversity. The U23s who’ve yet to go out on loan have proved nothing yet, apart from being good at U23s level (apart from Jebbo, obviously). That doesn’t mean they’ll be crap, they could go out on loan and prove the same, and may end up better than Smith or Slater but there isn’t any evidence of that yet.
You appear to be saying you think Smith and Slater have proved they’re not good enough and that’s what I interpret differently.

I was trying badly to say it’s almost like Schrödinger’s cat they’re both incredible and crap at the same time as we’ve not seen them play senior football yet. Where as smith has had a middling season at Swindon so I’d say his level is probably league one right now. Slater is probably good enough but if he’s not in our plans this season I think he’ll ask for a move to hull on a perm rather than a loan.

I'd seen a £600k fee mentioned and his Dad kicking off because we wouldn't let him leave:D

Yeah I don’t think it’s bad on uniteds part new gaffer who wants to have a look at everyone so the transfer goes on hold. However, if we decide he’s surplus this year then I think he’ll seek to leave on a permanent.

If I was one of the young lads I’d be wary of making this move as Broadbent did and he got no game time at all really. Not saying he was good enough or deserved any but to someone like Seriki, Broadbent is his peer who performed well at 23’s level too. I could see Seriki going and making a big impact and then it looks like a great move but it’s a big step up for him and if he goes and gets hardly any game time at all it becomes a complete waste of time. It would tarnish the partnership between the clubs, especially when it comes to loaning any of our homegrown players.

Smith and Slater should think themselves very lucky if they get a shot at the Belgian first division based on their careers so far

Broadbent was injured and struggled because of it if I remember rightly.

Is Schrodinger signing for us this week ? What position does he play ?

Wonder if a few if the younger lads could be loaned to Châteauroux not just for playing time but for different environment and coaching experience?

French 3rd div is like national league standard. Not much to gain really I take your point about different environment etc but with the pandemic I just find it a risk we don’t need to take

We had several players go on loan to ferencvaros including Matt Lowton. It’s was the same with Central Coast Mariners …so pretty
much identical relationship.

Exchange programs for the top u15-u21 talents should definitely be a big plus for all the clubs’ academies. Spending a few weeks across Belgium, France and England and get to train with different top coaches and different cultural accents. Should be appealing to talented youngsters to choose a UW club over other clubs of the same level.

And even more so if Chateauroux can get promoted this year.

Chateauroux could become a big part of of the United world youth development in the future if what one of their fans popped in here was saying. Apparently their new academy is going to have dormitories, classrooms and state of the art training and gym facilities. Could become a real asset in the future.

Yes agreed, and the french Ligue 2 should be a decent standard for our purposes. I read somewhere about the importance of their promotion this year, presumably for financial reasons as well as footballing.

It’s now also in the Belgian newspapers. Deal not signed yet.

He's an exciting prospect and looks physically ready for senior football. Will be a good loan move for both parties. Excited to see how it plays out. We've got a great record at producing quality right backs.
