That was the pigs I think ,we handled a lot of the paperwork flying about for that transfer , it was dealt with by Howard Culley who was a solicitor and happened to be on the board at the piggery.

It was definitely us, I remember watching Soccer AM when he was on and laughing at our lying board at the time.

Not that it's to be taken as gospel, but his Wikipedia page even makes reference to talks with us in 1999.

Next manager Les Ferdinand made me laugh his odds went from 50/1 down to 13/8 overnight last year.

One of the players i remember the most was Hamilton Ricard did he end up at Middlesborough? I read all sorts about McCabe offering everything to sign but as usual didn't get him, it seemed to go on for months.

With Ricard, I think the Blades claimed he couldn't get a work permit. He turned up at Boro a couple of months later.

Without reading the thread..........

Walcott on loan?

It was funny at the time. Robbie suggested it on here I think just to wind up a poster of the time. But a few of us (and Robbie) decided to run it about all over the place until it ended up in the papers and even the bbc gossip section. :)

I loved the Kev McCabe interview on RS re: Beattie to Stoke rumours.

"Stop speculating, you're speculating, there's been no bids..."

72 hours later...

We were definitely linked in the papers in the late-sixties to Alex Young - the "Golden Vision" - of Everton but it came to nothing.

Later, Alan Whittle from Everton was more than a rumour but, to the relief of those of us who couldn't stand him, he failed the medical.

Alan Whittle was even in the Blades squad photo (summer 1976) on the day he took the medical!
