Simple really, who is your favorite player of all time and why?

Mine is probably Dane Whitehouse, he's about as far back as I can remember and was the only player I ever used to "be" when playing footie with my mates.

Been done a few times........but easy for me!

TC! Best player I've seen!

:)

oops, sorry, I did look for a thread but couldn't find one.... ignore this one...

Sir Brian Deane without a shadow of a doubt. I've got a signed Deano shirt and a framed signed poster ready to go up in my office in the new house. Can't wait.

No idea about current team sadly as I've not seem them for a couple of years.

Glyn Hodges - my first season ticket was 92/93 as a 13 yr old and he was always the player I tried to be in the yard - not the fittest (like me) but ridiculously skilful (unlike me). And Doug Hodgson once told me he was the dirtiest player he'd ever played with. Managing to score against and get sent off against the pigs for smacking John Harkes have to be extra reasons for hero worship.

"This man's left foot... is magic!"

Doug Hodgson actually joined the forum in the early days but some of the young uns took the piss thinking it wasn't him.

He's not been back since!

:(

Best GK-Alan Kelly
DF Holdsworth or Borbokis
MF Glynn Hodges
St Deano, windass or Fjortoft

Obviously these are all 90's/00's players, but I would say these are some of the best I have ever seen pull on the shirt

I loved Windass the player but what I've heard of his reaction to getting dropped for the Play-off final kind of put me off him! I'm sure it's a tale heard before on here...

Yeah windass let himself down that day but I dont think Ive ever seen a player with such a good eye for goal as him. Just a shame we got him in so late

Yeah, he and Kabba were a really good combo. Do I remember rightly that Windass once managed to get sent off four times in the same game for Aberdeen? That's some achievement!

I've had a think about this and it's not easy... Throughout my era our very best players couldn't be retained, so didn't last for long. The older folks will remember the true greats who gave career long service. I can't say the same. Sorry Deano, Agana, Jags and Kyle - you're all out....

I'm going for Monty. I know it's bonkers as he's not very good at many things, but he's an awesome competitor, totally selfless and most importantly a one club man (perhaps no-one else would have him).

If Monty was a soldier he'd have saved a thousand lives and earned the Victoria Cross twice over.

Yup, he can marry any daughter of mine.

:)

You want ugly grandkids??

:D:D:D

Having given this a lot of thought and only being a nipper (32) ;) I never saw TC and some of the other "oldies". I know Deane / Agana, Whitehouse etc. would all be in the frame. But for me its... Paul Peschisolido, to me he was our Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer. Also his celebration when he scored against Forest at the Lane in the 2003 play-offs was classic.

I loved that for being the campest goal celebration of all time - his repeated cry of 'oh my god!' wouldn't have been out of place in an episode of Will & Grace!

I suppose you can like a player on two criteria; 1 - Whether they were good 2 - The effort they put in.

Whitehouse would be one who ticks both boxes for me as would Jags, Tracey and Agana among others. Good players would be the likes of Borbokis, Deane or Beattie and the triers would be fella slike Booker, Monty and Kozluk.

Another criteria - whether they're a cheat. Thus Keith Curle comes below Jonathan Hunt on my all time fave lists... (rock bottom)

Gotta agree with you there mate. I'm quite a young blade so haven't seen many of the greats Curries, Morris et al.

However some of my happiest memories in my short time watching the Blades have had Monty at the heart of them. Beating Arsenal at home in our last PL season particuarly stands out. I remember walking down Shoreham street after that game thinking how immense he had played.

Jags as well is another top player for me and good to see how he has developed in to a top international player.

p.s I don't have to sit in the naughty corner for admitting to being a Monty fan on this board do I?;)

Keith Edwards for me. He was our goal machine. Remember him once scoring a goal from a move that Pele famously tried to do & missed.

Colin Morris, Tom Heffernan & keeper Keith Waugh were also boyhood favourites of mine.

I've always had a soft spot for the solid centre half, and we have been blessed with quite a few.

At the moment i'm a big fan of Chris Morgan, but in the past i have always liked Paul Stancliffe, Doug Hodgson, Shaun Murphy, Keith Curle and David Holdsworth

I'd go along with that ,Colquhoun ,and Kenworthy were big favourites of mine.
