For various reasons too boring to go into, I have a memory of all United games* going back to 1961-62

Though we were safe when we beat Charlton at home then the black day at Cambriidge arrived
got both programmes , age plays tricks on the years , as I dont write it down it all mergesNo it didn't. Chelsea finished 7th that season. They went down in 1975.
26 years ago, and today purely from a programme point of view.
A careful look at the cover will detect that the game is dated 1897.
Some opportunists have from time to time attempted to claim that this makes it a rarity.
It does not. A copy dated 1987 would be
Match day sponsors were the Anglo Scandia Football League, who many of you will be familiar with, and no doubt a fair few of you probably played in.
A 3-1 victory over Blackburn with goals coming from Cadette, Dempsey and on his debut Chris Marsden

And also today:
1990: A Derby D1-1 (Deane)
That was the game that convinced Warnock to get rid of Hayles and keep Ward, who of course never played well again and was soon injured.
1992: H Villa L0-2
A masterclass in midfield play and goalscoring from Garry Parker
1995: H Palace L2-3 (Whitehouse, Flo)
2 -1 up with 5 minutes to go, weren't we? That was defeat no 4 out of the 5 to start the year, I think.
2004: H Leeds W2-0 (Ward, Harley)
That was the game that convinced Warnock to get rid of Hayles and keep Ward, who of course never played well again and was soon injured.
I thought we'd got an agreement about mentioning Helios, due to the alarming stress levels it induces in some of us.

You're right about the Palace game.
The Leeds game saw a great finish by Ward following a great through ball from Tonge. That was the last of his 5 goals for us.
One of the two goals in the last 5 mins was an absolute screamer which would have killed someone on the Kop hap the net not got in the way.

Was our first league win that year the Norwich game where Bryan Gunn got sent off at half time????
And today
1969: A Watford W2-1 (Currie, Barlow)
1975: H Leeds L0-2
1977 H Everton (LC) L0-3
1980 A Barnsley L1-2 (Butlin)
1986 A Leeds W1-0 (Philliskirk)
1988 A Hartlepool (LC) D2-2 (Agana, Deane)
1994 A Charlton D1-1 (Rogers)
1997 A Huddersfield D0-0
1999 A Tranmere W3-1 (Devlin 2, Smith)
2003 H Coventry W2-1 (Brown pen, Lester)
2008 H Cardiff D0-0
2011 A Burton (JPT) W2-1 (McAllister, Tonne)
I was at the Barnsley game in 1980. We got bossed out of it in midfield totally, memory plays tricks but I think it was Ronnie Glavin that ran the show.
2011 A Burton (JPT) W2-1 (McAllister, Tonne)
