Are you ?

No, but I am not the one saying it will all be corporate bullshit. There's also the small matter that London is rather further from the Lane than Beighton.

Do we have a deal or are you all mouth and no trousers?

:D i'm not going Darren.....Paraza is further away than London.

Considering the fact it's Movember month, chuck your bet money here: http://uk.movember.com/?home

Of course, he won't take me up on the bet - see his last post. All mouth and no trousers as I said.

It really really, really pisses me off that when people like you and Foxy and people like John Garrett make efforts to actually make things better and to do something constructive and positive, all people like Mic, BB and MB can do is make snide comments from the sidelines. I have never met you and Foxy, but I have met JG and he is a good bloke and wants the best for United, anyone thinking he is some sort of coroprate stooge wants to take a look at themselves.

Well we've always said that by being involved, if things do end up being a waste of time, it's only our own time that's been wasted. So I don't understand the cynicism of those who resolutely won't get involved beyond trying to convince us that it's a waste of time and pointless :)

I also don't understand where some of the criticism about getting perks from United for being involved in this comes from (not so much on this site, but others). Beyond a cup of tea and a custard cream, Foxy and I receive nothing from the club for going to these meetings and if we did, we'd feel morally obliged to say so because our intentions, at least, are transparent.*

We'd rather be able to report things to our members and readers directly than rely on carefully drafted statements from the club and second-hand opinion from the people who were there. (Whether you think we're credible enough or not is up to you, but if you're reading this, you're happy enough for us to pay for the bandwidth for you to say you don't believe us so I'd hope we'd at least be treated with some courtesy.)

And going the other way, we want to be able to take any feedback we get to the club, particularly from those who might not get chance to have a say otherwise. It's easy enough for me and Foxy to go to these events because we're local and can arrange to be there. Harder for the LBs and exiles.

Although the Club haven't said as much, my feeling is that they are suspicious of and undervalue the internet as a communication tool, just seeing it as giving a platform for people to criticise the club without actually trying to do anything about it, or indeed in some instances, without even going to the games and therefore, being a paying customer. All the keyboard warriors do is reinforce this idea and put the Club off from trying to engage with the wider network of Blades fans, many of whom keep contact with the Blades via the internet.

We've long said we'd like to do an online Q&A with people at the club. But the fact that we so far haven't been able to shows that the club would much prefer to do things face-to-face. So that's your option if you want to have your say on a public platform... get your name on an email to the Box Office and get down there.

* I think some people were under the impression that the corporate box and tickets competitions were were running last season were courtesy of United... they weren't, they came via 188bet's PR company who are no longer handling the contract this season.

Did someone mention snide comments?

Here's an online Q&A for you all.

Any idea if the staff shortage in the media department or whatever it is has been solved?

Who said anything about corporate stooges? Will anyone present know the exact terms of the rental deal and if so would they disclose it? N0, 100% no in both cases.

Will those present be able to say they will have a chat with XYZ about stale bread and rip off phone numbers? Yes 100%. Enjoy.

Could I give a toss about communications between club and fans? No, but I really enjoy this forum which is for fans.

Do I want SUFC to punch their weight in English football? Yes.

Do I detest what McCabe has done to SUFC? Yes.

Complete and utter nonsense. Calm down dear.

Whats the nonsensical bit then

That Foxy, Linz and JG are trying to make things better and do something constructive and positive?
That you, BB and MB make snide comments?
That JG is a good bloke and wants the best for United?

Do tell

Will be passing on your questions, so let us know if there are any more sensible and genuine ones.

Just for clarity Micalijo , Kevin Cookson will be in attendance tonight should you wish to pop along and have any questions relating to media and the web services answered. I'm assuming not, as is the perpetual situation, but the opportunity is there to give an individual the courtesy of forming an informed opinion.

We'll be covering live as much as tech allows and will follow that up with some sort of coverage afterwards.

So keep an eye on our Twitter, and on the forum.

Foxy - my question about rent is genuine and very, very serious. Let's just clarify that please at least even if it doesn't get passed on. Also, for clarity, I simply do not want to go and would rather watch kids football.

Re Cookson - I was taking the piss out of the note which suggested we had a staff shortage in his area - which I cannot believe given we are a tin pot L1 club who nobody is interested in. I have no idea who Cookson is, very little interest in what he does and equally am sure he is a perfectly decent bloke trying his best for people who are interested. Good luck to him.

What's betting there are very few awkward questions asked, these fans forums tend to be love in's and mutual pat on the back sessions for brown noser's chosen in advance, unless you believe registering interest was only for numbers counting.

It would seem my one and only comment on this thread has twisted a few knickers and gained me membership of the evil triangle. Still I stand by the comment, past Radio phone in's with KM have blatantly been stage managed with the callers fawning to him being quite sickening so I don't expect this event to be any different given SUFC's past attempts at supporter liaison being shady meetings in dinghy pub back rooms with selected fans. So no I don't see much point in showing my face, why would I ? my comments will not be viewed as valid you see, in some eyes I am not or ever have been a paying customer.
I hope the 100 fans that do attend have a good time but it could be a very long night if all get to ask a question and the powers that be give you 2mins of their time, call me cynical if you like but given the recent PR disasters this smacks of applying a sticking plaster.

Me thinks the rent might be the equivalent of a decent midfielder's wages............... strange how we could play Quinn and still have enough to bring in Gallagher but now Quinn has gone we can't now afford to bring in even goalkeeper cover, what changed other than who owned the ground ?

The location was discussed and for the very reason of this sort of perception we (me and Linz) and others suggested that it should be somewhere like the lane as a central point that the Blades supporting public could attend without any form of perceived "ownership" of the forum.

It is open to everyone who wishes to attend, numbers requested purely for venue management. The intention long term is to perhaps move the venues so as to "tour" and open up access to as many as possible.

Great sentiments Foxy, but for a lot of fans the club will have to do a lot more before they can hope to be taken seriously. Things like announcing investment coming worth 500million be it pounds, dollars, euro's or rupee's on transfer deadline day when we sell our only proven Championship class midfielder tells most fans the SUFC owners are still a load of bullshitters who care bugger all about the fans.

So the upshot of all this is is that none of the members of the evil triangle (I like that phrase), despite their fearless probing of all that is wrong with SUFC on here, can be arsed to get down to the Lane tonight to stick it to the club in person.

Why does this not surprise me. The words mouth and trousers spring to mind again.

I prefer Axis of Evil

The thing is, the more opportunities to put thoughts and questions to them that are turned down, the likelihood of being taken seriously diminishes. I understand this isn't always possible, that's we try to help by covering/offering to put things to the club on your behalf.

Fair enough if someone tries and fails/finds obstacle, but to not try at all and still to throw stones doesn't really carry much weight for me.

1) How close are United to having a transfer embargo imposed due to the FFP? Is there still scope in the budget to bring in 1 or 2 players if they are needed? Who would make that decision?

2) How did the confusion regarding Montgomery and Creswell at the start of the season come about? I.e. Wilson said he couldn’t pick them but McCabe said he could?

3) Why was it reported that Lowton was sold for £3M and Quinn sold for £300K when the figures are much lower according to Villa and Hull? Did the incorrect figures come from United? Why do such fees have to be “undisclosed”?

Just for the record I’m going to see “The Killers” tonight but I’d appreciate it if somebody could squeeze these questions or similar in?

I’m not really expecting a full and detailed response either because I suspect some of the information will be “Company Confidential”. Still, worth a try?

Thanks in advance, Sothall Blade

Linz, Foxy,

I hope at this evenings meeting mention can be made of the poor service from Blades player.

The issues are well documented covering a delayed, slow and intermittent service which is very frustrating.

Blades player is the only means fans like me and others who live far away can access radio coverage of matches. There is no other choice, and we need the club to do something about matters as soon as possible.

I don't want a free month at the end of the season, what good is that when the action is over? I just want to be able to listen to the match live without it cutting out all the time. It can't be that difficult.

Hope this comes up tonight.

Cheers, Tony.

Linz, Foxy,

I hope at this evenings meeting mention can be made of the poor service from Blades player.

Funny you should say that because I don't think I'm stepping on any toes by saying Foxy and Kev Cookson have just had a bit of a chat about the techy side of things. All a bit above my head but it's fair to say, the club know that there's issues.

Thanks Linzy, good to know, that they know, what I know but no one knows how to fix it.

Question: I'm not very financially astute, but can you explain to me what benefits there is to not owning our ground but paying rent?

Answer: The ground is owned within the group and the rent is zero.

Question: So why have we done it?

Answer: It improves the balance-sheet for SUFC but that's probably a question that's better put to the AGM and we will pass those on.

:D heyup Darren !

HMRC will be interested in that, it's not allowed.
