Player Suggestion David Brooks

Problem is Fleck's not exactly on fire either, Berge is doing well as the holding man but we just need some creativity desperately in the middle. Not enough competition in there. Hoping we pull something out of the bag today in this regard, but not hopeful.

Berge is getting stick still, (despite improving every game) but he is carrying the entire midfield at the moment with probably the exception of Osborn.....chuck into the mix Enda, Fleck and Bash being well below par and you can see why we are struggling....

How do you know it is not happening 🙄 pretty sure people said that about Sander Berge.

Wilder literally joked this one off a few weeks ago & somehow it's become a rumour. He said "I'd love to be able to bring someone like Brooksy back from Bournemouth. But it's not just the £40m we can't afford, but the wages too..." (Or words to that effect).

Now our fans are wetting themselves thinking we're in for him which clearly isn't the case.

I can't see it happening either, but I could see that if Brooks wants to leave, and I would guess he does to get back to the PL, Bournemouth would want a hefty fee, but also right now his stock is much lower after a year out injured. The bigger teams won't pay what Bournemouth would want and maybe are less interested now anyway, so a loan to us for a season with a loan fee and then if he does well his value goes back to nearer the £50m mark again which would obviously benefit a future sale for Bournemouth. That could be one reason there may be something in it.

Are you one of these that hang on the every word our manager says? you never know what he is going to do or got planned.

He isn't going to come out and tell people is he 🙄

Can we buy him for 40 million? No
Could we potentially loan him? Yes

Ps. The RUMOUR MILL may not be for you.

Hope your suspicions are right, and he does know something but I can't help feel those tweets come across as attention-seeking; not convinced.

I don't know either way, but you do know by their very nature twitter tweets are designed to seek attention?

I would love it to be true by the way, but I don't really think it is.

Are they? I understand that most tweets are intended to reach as large an audience as possible, so I guess you could call that seeking attention in a literal sense - the tweets in question seemed a little more desperate and repetitive (in my eyes) and seeked attention in a more colloquial sense.

Edit: and I agree by the way, I'd be utterly gobsmacked if we pulled this off.

I love when our fans say we havent got the budget for this player and we cant afford that player...they’re proved wrong at every verse end but they still keep singing the same old song! 🥳😂

Ahh right, I have to gullibly buy into every rumour mill thread in order to pass comment. Wish I'd read the S15Blade rulebook prior to dropping in. Sorry for wasting your time.

That’s not strictly true is it. I believe that finances were a factor in missing out on Matty Cash, for instance.

I’m not saying we’re potless, as our expenditure since promotion has indubitably proved that we’re willing to spend what we can, but that doesn’t mean we have an infinite amount of spends at our disposal, so there will still be players we can’t afford. Ergo, if David Brooks is valued at £50m, it’s not ridiculous to suggest that such a fee is more than we can stretch to for a single player.

Another random twitter account saying we are in talks:

No offence but we really need a tier system for transfers like Liverpool do.

A 19 year old student with 300 followers from Liverpool is unlikely to know anything about who we are targeting.

These rumours build and lead to disappointment when we inevitably don’t land someone we were never in for. There will be disappointment despite us spending over 20m three times in the last 2 windows (Berge, ramsdale and now brewster)

Ah yes but apparently he works for https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom. Which has over 100k followers. That's at least one step up from Alan Biggs tier.

Sunjihi was correct on the Brewster transfer but not on him being in the squad for the Arsenal game. Surely he deserves to be moved to Tier 5?
That is probably the least of his worries. The Brewster in the squad leak was probably extremely limited in its spread - much like Cadette, the source is probably now known. Canary trap in action.

Not going to lie, the Brooks rumour was the only thing getting me through last night 😔
