Player Suggestion Daniel Sturridge

I don't normally do doom & gloom this early but if this is true and we're after Sturridge we have really sunken below the barrel bottom. I've just been reading he's more fucked than me & trust me I'm fucked.

If wages lowish and he's fit enough then actually coming around to this.

I think we could do with another big name player with a bit of pedigree to give us a bit of a boost, as well as having a decent player

yep, Sturridge is looking more attractive by the minute.

Signing Sturridge would appear to be the very peak of panic buying. Appearances might be deceptive, but it’d certainly look like we were relying on just bringing anyone in and hoping for a miracle.

I wouldn't have minded bringing him in on trial pre-season, like we did with McGoldrick, so we could've had a look at him. Now it'll take him weeks to even get up to speed and even then he's very unlikely to stay fit. He's always had great talent but I'm not sure he, physically, is a Premier League player at this point. Beggars can't be choosers, I guess.

One year deal, low-ish wages then it makes it slightly attractive but I just can’t look past the fact he’s a bit of an injury prone waste of space 95% of the time.

If its reasonable wages on a 1 year contact I can see us taking a gamble. Three games in and none of our strikers have had a shot on target.

I think you have answered your own question there.. we arent creating chances for our strikers.

Well, as long as he is physically fit, I seem to be in the minority that think he would have been a decent signing - he's quick, mobile, able to conjure-up chances and can finish.

Yes, there's a question over his injury record in recent seasons but tbh I'd prefer a more experienced striker than an 19/20 year old given the predicament Utd are in and the pressure that would inevitably be put on any new striker.

So it doesn’t bother you that Wilder has categorically stated that we’re not interested in signing Sturridge?

That's absolutely fine and CW will know obviously far more about the player, his condition, likely cost and fit with the team/squad than I do.

However, I personally feel he might have been able to do a job for Utd and certainly add more of a threat going forward. Don't forget Utd have now failed to score in 270 mins and, potentially McB aside, I don't see any of the current strikers getting more than 5 goals this season.

Who would you prefer to be signed given the obvious financial constraints?

The problem with all your suggestions is none are (currently) available for loan so Utd would have to find circa £18m, £8m and £15m to sign any of them

Capitalism is clearly working very well, isn’t it? The country makes thirteen biscuits. The rich take twelve of them and say to the middle classes, look out those poor people are trying to steal your biscuit. And that’s why capitalism is a flawed ideology.

You know nothing about Marxism...And you’ve obviously never heard of Groucho.

I was poor as a boy... I had a small, wet damp bedroom in firth park, with a wooden window so wet that it wouldn’t shut. I use to ask friends for dinner money as my family couldn’t afford mine.

Then through hard work, and playing this little game called capitalism we built a better life for ourselves. Not because any socialist gave us charity, but because we were competent, hard working, and played the game properly.

If you give £10,000 to 100 people, and check their net value after 10 years you’d find the distribution of wealth would look something similar to how it does in society today. That’s because, again, the pareto principle... 20% of the people produce 80% of the effort.

No doubt Marx was a very intelligent bloke, I’ve read his IQ was 180. But his works are regularly picked apart by modern academics.

Communism has failed everywhere it’s been tried, and been responsible for millions of deaths.

So it’s a bit of a strange thing to base you’re entire online identity on...

Show me one communist utopia, that has reached full socialism as was suggested in Marx’s works?

I’ll wait.
