Sorry just to confirm, how many goals did Jack score in the ‘Championship’?
Does it really matter what Lester's past achievements are and where they were accomplished? Jose Mourinho played less than 100 games in the Portuguese muck and nettles league. Look at him now. Look at him!

Jebbo wasn't loaned out because we only had 2 other CF's who both have a recent history of injuries

I don't understand what point you're making, why does changing the name of the league invalidate Lester's experience at that level? I'm honestly baffled by what you mean.

I made a mistake in my FACT. Fact. fact checking. I took the reference to ‘championship’ as describing the 2nd tier in all its forms. I’m sorry for any & all offence caused. 🤷‍♂️

I must admit, regardless of division (or division name at the time) I did think Jack scored more goals than a quick Wiki search just revealed.
Again, you can be a better coach than player 100% (and I highly rated him as a player anyway) but I was a bit shocked at his career goal scoring record. Just felt a lot more.

the way things are looking we aint loaning jebbo out anywhere weve 1 striker illy who could score goals at premier level forget the rest and hecky must know this minimum 2 new strikers needed

19 years old, raw, injuries this season, hasn’t had a decent run of games, good potential, yeah let’s write him off ,sell him for 600k then slag the management if he comes a good striker in the immediate future, dearie me,our fan base ! Warnock always said 1 good game in 4 as a kid then 2 then 3,give the kid a break from armchair management.

Agreed, but we can’t afford one good game in four in the EPL.
He needs to go and play regularly at a lower level, until he’s at three good games in four level

He's ahead of the curve. At 19 he's already had a stellar youth team career, a top loan spell in league one and some promising games in the Championship and Premier League. The same people doubting him are the same morons I was arguing with about DCL, Ramsdale, Ndiaye, Maguire etc. The same people now tell everyone we gave them away 🤣. This season he should've been on loan again, but this is basket case United so we couldn't bring an Archer type in and do that.

The kid needs patience but all the raw materials are there. The things he needs to work on are obvious, particularly if he wants to play the lead striker role. Getting him on a long contract should be a priority.

If we go with Jebbison, Sharp, McBurnie and Brewster it will be the most lacklustre set of forwards ever to grace a Premier League squad. I don’t think they’d get ten between them all season.

Everyone of them, for different reasons is miles off what we’ll need. It is without doubt the weakest, most ineffectual part of the current squad.

Jebbison needs to go out on loan to League one, score some goals, work on his positioning, sharpen up his anticipation, hone his finishing and increase his confidence in front of goal. In a couple of years he could be a decent striker, but I suspect Osula may get there ahead of him
As many as ten?

He can only get better in and around premiership players,if he can’t his career will stall . Who knows he may have 2/3 good matches 🤷🏻‍♂️ i remember Beattie looking at Billy many times thinking “how did you miss that?” Look how Billy turned out. Hope he can do the same. Hecky and Co will decide whether he is good enough not us know alls up in the stands.

When we went into the premiership last time we never addressed the striker situation, relying on what we'd got, 3 years later and we still haven't done anything about it, as of yet. Same with the midfield, they weren't good enough back then in our second premiership season, and yet, guess what, here we are talking of Fleck, Norwood being retained, they've been excellent in the past, but we need to injet pace and have players who run at defenders, as we've seen in McAtee and Doyle, get players on loan if we can't afford to buy, steady the ship financially and (hopefully ) survive and build in our second season.
If we have to start norwood then thats not ideal but i can live with it. Fleck shouldn’t be near the starting 11 though. Same with all the current strikers. Mcburnie and jebbo i think are probably the better of the bunch but based on mcburnies form and jebbo’s age/inconsistency then we will be in big trouble trying to rely on these 2.

The worst part of this is that those 2 players regularly played like they were carrying injuries and Jebbison still barely got a sniff. Let's hope it's not the same story next season.

Is he likely to be going to the World Cup later this month?
I was wondering what would happen if a club side ended up in the playoffs then their young players were called up for the World Cup. It looks like the international fixtures are at the same time as all the play-off games. Do clubs have any say in asking for their players to not go? (I appreciate it’s not relevant for us, but was just looking at Coventry and Callum Doyle who I think has played with Jebbo for the England under 20s).

No one answered this! (Just maybe because it’s completely irrelevant :)).
But it turns out from the 4 minutes I spent Googling it myself because no-one could be bothered to do it for me, that clubs do have the final say on whether the youngsters can go out to the World Cup or not if their season hasn’t finished; and Jebbo IS expecting to be involved in Argentina later this month with the England under 20s, although the squad hasn’t been announced yet. Hopefully he does well.
