Promising young lad, with very little supply line. Needs to work on his movement, but we need to work on giving him more to move for. You keep him and you develop him. Even if you need him to be a +1 to a Sharp, Brewster.

Sharp, Brewster, Jebbo parking in front of Doyle, Khadra, Berge could be scary when we find our stride.

I do lean towards agreeing. I'm starting to realise he's definitely going to be a very good player, but in order to realise his potential I think he needs regular game time.
As you say, to work out his game.

Is our club, at this moment, the best place for that? I think probably not. I don't think we have the time to develop someone into that lone striker role.
This season could be our last realistic shot at promotion for a while, with parachute payments drying up and a lot of the squad reaching the end of their cycle with us.

I've said a few times (and it's an unpopular opinion) that I'd sign Lewis Grabban. I think we need an experienced link man at the top of the park who can bring our 10s into play and have positional awareness to finish off chances.
Billy Sharp is that guy, but we need to halve his load.
That signing (if our budget won't allow for anything better) and Jebbison loaned out until January would be my sort of preference.
I hear you. For me I’d probably need to see him a few more times before making that judgement. It was a tough game the other night and living off scraps his link-up play wasn’t actually too bad. On that performance alone I’d say he’s not far off our other strikers and given his physicality and McBurnie’s injury, it might be an error to loan him out. Even if you are taking the risk that playing every week might help his development.

How do you develop him if he's on the bench?

I don't think he looks like he's kicked on enough from last season, physically. That's my worry for Jebbison.

I also wouldn't loan him out without bringing someone in as he's our third choice striker and so many of our alternatives have been off with long-term injuries.

IMO Jebbison was a 'victim' of 'poor service = a poor performance!', not including N'Diaye in that statement as I thought N'Diaye and Wes were our best players on the night, the rest were poor or didn't turn up!.
I think Jebbs will be a good player given time/game time. I also think it's a confidence thing!, as he appears to play hoping/waiting for something to happen for him when he plays for the 1st team whereas he makes things happen for himself in U-23 games. Let's be patient and get behind him.

He's not really ready, but at the same time he's not that far off. Loaning him out, as I think BushBlade has pointed out, isn't really an option: the only thing we can offer him that a PL club can't is game time. If we're just going to ship him out again, he may aswell find a parent club that pays better.

In the circumstances , I thought Jebbo did reasonably well on Monday . Those circumstances were that , Ndiaye apart , he received little or no service / support from those around him whose job it was to provide it .

As a result , he was left to go foraging for opportunities to win the ball himself which he did extremely well on at least two occasions . One of these led to the tv commentary team describing his work and technique in doing so as absolutely brilliant .

In addition , his flick on header to put Ndiaye in was first class centre forward play .

Given a little time and patience , I believe this lad could become a potent force for us . Unfortunately , in the modern world and particularly amongst certain members of this forum , such an approach is becoming harder and harder to find .

Still interested apparently?

Think that is just click bait, jebbison is not yet ready to start in the championship on a regular basis let alone the premier league. He has potential to be a very good player, but the fact that DCL is currently injured should not influence them buying him as he is not ready to,go straight in the team

He might be best served staying away from Everton at the moment they’re in turmoil he’s unlikely to get the kind of long term development plan that DCL got just because there’s every chance they drop through the trap door soon

Went a way to doing just that with his finish on Satdi.
Yep if he does that on a regular basis he won’t be a championship player beyond this season.

DCL did not go straight into the Everton first team, they need someone now.

Could be, but the article also mentions being one for the future. It appears Everton are struggling financially with few signings, so wouldn't surprise me, especially if they believe Jebbo could be one they think they can get relatively cheaply that potentially turns into another DCL

As with most things that surround the modern game, money will determine what happens. If we're offered a decent fee, the player's wages are suddenly at a level we would never consider, and the player himself receives a standard of coaching that has turned DCL from a 'possible' into a 'definite', well, what would you do?

The important aspect of all that is the size of the fee, apparently already turned down £5m. It would have to be over £10m to make us think about it.
we paid £23m for Brewster and I would suggest that jebbo is not far behind where he was when he first came, ok Brewster had been at Swansea and scored goals but as raw material there is not much to choose between them.

Should seriously consider cashing in if it can lead to the funding of two important signings. Could bring in a quality LWB and CF with the money

Can't fuck about this season, this is our best chance of going up and we need to do whatever it takes

Looked bang up for it today, massive physical handful (🍆) for them, asked questions and gets assists because of his tenacity. Biggest thing I noticed though (🍆) was his football brain seems to have developed. Clever play, positioning, passes. Add that part of the game to his physical attributes and we're onto an absolute baller.

Looked like a young drogba today

Said it for a longtime that we have a star on our hands. Always baffled me that some folk think he’s crap, he’s a kid who is showing bags of promise and in a couple of years is gonna be an absolute beast of a player

He's an absolute handful. Much harder to dispossess than Sharp or McBurnie. He's showing great flashes without getting a proper run of starts. Imagine the player he might become if given that opportunity.
