Interesting WBA ITK on their forum posted last night;
"Just an update....please see previous posts (if you have time lol) to check that usually my posts are ITK and accurate before they happen. I usually only post things I get from a very reliable source.
Wilder is a done deal. it's currently with the FA to rubber stamp before we announce, no hiccups expected, they are just checking wordings etc...basic stuff really.
And for anyone that saw that accidental slip on the Albion's Website announcing Wilder last night - it was indeed real. An admin error posted it and Dowling is furious.
Make of the appointment what you will guys, but let's give him our backing."
They seem to think its a done deal. If so it should save us some money on CW's pay out.
As far as I'm aware Chris spoke quite lengthy with the LMA about it his exit. He could have potentially taken some form of action after that interview. If it wasn't would you like to tell us, the dumb public, why Chris hasn't come out and responded?
Bear in mind, he wouldn't be breaking his NDA agreement if he was merely pointing out inaccuracies in the interview the prince made.
Balham - that sums it up perfectly!
It was a slow (and painful) watch as he slowly got more and more out of his depth. Once other coaches and analytic depth figured out our system and weakness, his inability to evolve is what undid him (and us).
If I were part of the interviewing committee at WBA I'd be probing very thoroughly about his inability to adapt in face of adversity before I even gotten round to asking about transfers...
The biggest disappointment wasn’t his inability to evolve, it’s that he didn’t even try! It was rabbit in the headlights stuff. He just kept picking the same team and tactics in the hope that things will improve.
I thought he’d at least go down with a fight rather than give up because Plan A failed.
same here just couldnt understand why he didnt try something different quite baffling really when it obviously wasnt working would love to hear him say why he wouldnt change things roundYet he has changed formation before during a match and played different formations at other clubs. I don’t quite get why he didn’t want to evolve. I don’t get why he didn’t mix it up once he knew JOC was out.
We played 3-5-2, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-3 and 4-4-2 at some point under Wilder last season. It's a bit of a myth that he didn't try different things.
I just think that he, Knill and even the board (Prince said he was happy with the performances if not the results) thought that we weren't too far away from last year (1-0 wins becoming 1-0 defeats, fine margins etc) and that it would turn around.
If they thought some of the performances were good enough then that's a good reason for him not still being our manager. It's ok losing by the odd goal and using 'fine margins' as an excuse but the reason it happened is that we were shit and teams got a goal up and knew they could just hold us at arms length and win at a canter. We played 3-5-2, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-3 and 4-4-2 at some point under Wilder last season. It's a bit of a myth that he didn't try different things.

Also he never wanted to go to Sunderland or west brom whilst here. Only speculation. He did think about resigning when the prince and McCabe fell out though as he thought the club was in a mess until both parties assured him.
He only changed formation once Utd had conceded and where chasing the game. In how many games did he start with anything other that 3-5-2?
It's the legacy of someone motivated by money, though.
He might not be the anti-Warnock we hoped he was after all.
2 rumoured tap ups from Sunderland and West Brom followed pretty swiftly by bumper contracts.
2 attempted resignations when the going got tough followed by an accepted one in the end, but with a demanded pay-off.
Some Blade, eh.
Not a patch on our Billy.
From not getting the £4m pay-off?The bloke's clearly a massive Blade & the way things ended will be hurting him more than anyone.
I personally don’t or didn’t expect him to join anybody, the chairman backed him to the hilt and said he’d be manager next year no matter what happened this season from his point of view which I fully admired, hence I’d have expected Wilder to ride it out, come back fresh headed, with new ideas and still be managing us this season.Sorry but...who do you expect him to join? Is he meant to purposefully join a club with low ambitions and no hope of promotion, just because he's a blade? The 'loyalty' of jeopardising your own career that some fans seem to demand of Wilder is baffling.
Exactly this. It was part of the "keep it tight, stay in touch, stay in the game" mentality. Man city the obvious example, where the tactical change in the 80th ish minute completely transformed us far too late.
now he will not be remembered fondly
Insanenow he will not be remembered fondly
From not getting the £4m pay-off?
Games that we generally ended up losing anyway, doesn't matter if we lose 1-0 or 5-0 every game if we never pick up any points. Goal difference was a moot point this season, we lost far too many games for it to be a factor.I think he'd managed to talk himself into believing that starting with anything other than 3-5-2 would lead to us getting battered every game
You say tomato I say tomato. There's nothing wrong with being "tapped up" by other clubs and leveraging that to make more money for yourself. Sometimes your employer's begin to take your value for granted and you need to offer them a timely reminder. I've had to do it myself in my career on a couple of occasions.
I also don't think there was anything wrong with him offering his resignation. We were on a horrible spell & he looked a beaten man with no escape plan. He probably thought it was the best thing for himself, his family & the club.
The bloke's clearly a massive Blade & the way things ended will be hurting him more than anyone.
Gonna say. I think that £2m might cushion the blow mind...From not getting the £4m pay-off?
Should have got you in to negotiate the departure. Would have been done and dusted in seconds and saved us millionsBut imagine offering your resignation on the basis you get a pay off. Crazy.
If i tried to resign from my job but demanded a pay off for the privilege they'd laugh me out of the doorShould have got you in to negotiate the departure. Would have been done and dusted in seconds and saved us millions
Is your job managing a Premier league football team? If not I think I see the differenceIf i tried to resign from my job but demanded a pay off for the privilege they'd laugh me out of the door
“I’ll resign then”Is your job managing a Premier league football team? If not I think I see the difference
And yet we paid him. Maybe we should ask for a few million quid from PA seen as he's obviously handing it out for absolutely no reason.“I’ll resign then”
“yeah sound, this is the third time, cya later”
“well I want £4m actually or I’m going nowhere”
I know you want to lick the very shit that falls from Chris Wilder’s rectum, but please tell me how this is is any way shape or form acceptable?
Only by a few knobheads. The overwhelming majority will remember him fondly and wish him well (except if he's managing against us).
Rightly or wrongly, someone who walks away from the club they are supposed to think a lot about isn’t going to go down well with some supporters, that’s the point I’m making. Stop taking it out of context and putting a couple of words out of the post.Insane
