The owners have a bit more about them than to have the likes of Wilder pull the wool over their eyes.
They gave him what he wanted in January and have now drawn their conclusions

Can see us fetching in Jimmy Dunne, Harry Darling/Michael Keane or Jonny Evans on free's then the ones maybe a possibility Alfie Doughty, Wilder might be tempted to move for Dom Calvert-Lewin which I'm not that fussed for given his injury record but it'd be a proper Wilder thing to do, Wilder might then move back in for Jonjoe Kenny if we fail to go up, Wishlist would be Ben Davies from Tottenham but can see him going to someone like Brentford to replace the ageing Ben Mee, Wishlist Josh Brownhill fantastic player but can't see us moving for him if Burnley go up cos he'll probs stay there

Dunne, Darling, Kenny & Doughty would all be ok. Not interested in Keane, Evans or Calvert Lewin. No chance of Davies or Brownpants.

Out of interest who do you expect to choose who to recruit? Do you expect Wilder and the current recruitment team to be replaced?

I think it's traditionally seen as a more "American" model of sports ownership. They generally have one person in charge of recruitment (Director of Football) and one in charge of on-the-pitch (Manager). It makes a lot of sense. Recruitment and coaching are very different skillsets.

Alfie Doughty on a free transfer, yes, if he is available he will have plenty of interest but surely we can get him, like we did with O'Hare, Burrows and Moore.

Can't remember exactly how it happened at the time, but I seem to recall him playing against Crewe in the Cup, he didn't do too well then he was sold not long after, followed by the signings of the players you mentioned on deadline day.

Shame Everton never sold him when they were struggling for money, we would've made a decent bit of money with that sell-on clause.

Didn't we sell Che Adams for a small profit at the start of the season as well?

The fact that he could still walk away from Burnley for free despite being promoted (same with Egen-Riley) is mad.

Everton were meant to be after Brownhill in January so it wouldn't surprise me if those links resurfaced, and they could more than double his wages.

Trafford potentially off to Newcastle, Parker being linked with the Spurs job, and will probably take it given his history with Spurs.

That's four big assets that will potentially need replacing before they can even think about improving the squad.
