Because prior to this season he'd scored 31 goals in 10 years. If you'd be happy risking £8m on 1 seasons form then fair enough. He was shite in Greece before that.

I think one worry would be wilder couldn’t really get anything much out of him. In a system basically identical to what we play.

He’s only really flourished under Carrick.

and akpom has flourished because of cameron archer alongside him imo wouldnt be totally against going for him but of the 2 i prefer archer

I think him and Ndiaye up top would keep us up

I see the risk and maybe he'll just switch off again after his next contract, but my feeling is he's now here to stay

Would be very tempted at the right price

At the right price I agree to an extent as we will probably will have to take a punt and hope it pays off because we clearly don't have the funds to buy a Premier league quality striker.

That's why I laughed at any mention of £20m though cos in my opinion that's madness. A quarter of that and it might be worth it.

It would have to be a VERY low price (which Boro wouldnt accept anyway)

Hes been at so many clubs and failed to make an impact as a striker, even at the beginning of his Boro time he struggled to make an impact.

It was only after Carrick moved him to an AM role that he started to flourish.

However in the lat 10 games or so there were signs that he was reverting back to type and failing to make an impact on the field again.

HUGE risk for whats been 1 season of impact for a player whos now 27

He could be having his "Michael Brown-er" season, I know Brown ended up been played as a more defensive midfielders after leaving us. But he scored half the amount of goals he got in the 02/03 in the subsequent 10 years after.

McBurnie hasn't been as good as everyone probably wished but don't get why people knock him so much. He helped us get promoted last season as much as anyone else did.
Agreed. McBurnie is something unique in our squad. He's a tall nasty bastard that defenders hate to play against. He's a threat in the air and wins nearly all the oppostion corners thrown into to us. We need him in and around the 1st team. Our other strikers have different attributes such as pace and stamina.

We need Mcburnie until another similar improved version arrives.

I'm not sure offering an injured player as part-exchange would go down well (yes I'm aware Akpom is apparently carrying a knock too).

Deal isn’t dead as of yet but the prince is going to have to pay the man a premier league wage.
and thats the reason were not getting our main targets over the line know its a fine line with finances but were acting as though weve already got one foot back in the championship i think were just being slightly over cautious with salaries

I'm not knocking him, but I don't think he's up to PL standards. He has some good attributes and is an asset to a Championship team.

Unfortunately he can't be relied upon though, he's brittle and constantly injured. He's also in the final year of his deal, so if we could ship him on in a deal like the above I would support it.
