I think Chris is great the issue for me is how badly we have spent money since arriving in the prem. Would you trust him with 40 million if and a big if should that be available in January. When previous players like Lennord, Holmes, Evans he got shut the difference is they didn't cost millions and millions.

Especially scouting beyond these shores.
Did you see Zivkovic and Restos who we signed from overseas. Can maybe add Berge into that too. We at least sign top championship end players with our policy.

I don’t trust us going over seas

I’m loving this “oh we have spent 100m”. You do realise this league is so much different to the last time we were in it. Every teams squads in the premier league Will be more the 100m. Why not mention that we have the lowest wage bill in the league. Our success has been so rapi we didn’t have chance to build a solid championship squad never mind a premier league squad. It has caught up with us simple as that.

We were in for players such as Cash Watkins etc but unfortunately we cannot compete with the wages.
Why not hunger these players in a couple of years? Not sure if you realise but we cannot get top established premier league players in the wages we pay that’s a fact. Let’s give the players a chance and stop writing them off.

Hello Stegosaurus here,

If Chris Wilder was a wife, he'd be the sort of wife who comes home every day having spent 30 quid on a Love Live Laugh wall decoration, or a Keep Calm and Love Kittens pillow or other assorted garbage.

Why don’t you fuck off back to Owlstalk? Why are you still here it’s bizarre, haven’t you got bigger issues than us to worry about? Sad twat!

Just to mention as well, £100m or so was spent reinforcing both first team and squad, with a small wage budget, it’s crazy when you think how stretched we’ve been this two seasons, wilder has done ok considering resources and limitations.

One criticism i would have, is that we should have gone in for experienced EPL players, Deeney, Ben Foster, Krul, even Defoe. These are the kind of players we could have bought instead of investing in a 19yo Wonderkid, and a 20ish GK prospect. We should have prepared ourselves for a relegation battle with some experienced heads, then once we’re established, we begin to buy youth and build for the future

But saying that, If we get Cash, Maupay, Watkins, we’d probably be safe already this season, but we didnt due to wages, no ones fault except our sensible owners/manager

The team we played last night had a player who cost more than our whole team! Now let that sink in! We are living in a time when even championship players are in double figures in the millions. We quite rightly aren’t paying ridiculous wages unfortunately we are picking from a different pool to most other PL teams. These players aren’t PL players they are however very good players and in my opinion we have made sure if we do go down we aren’t going to cripple the club and still have a great chance to go back up.
Simple fact is we have had such a rise to success that it has caught up with us.

We probably did look to go for those players you mention bongle but every single one of those players you mention will be of probably double what our highest paid player is on. Why would they come to us and get paid half what they are on? We have been prudent hoped we could get these players up to speed a lot quicker. It hasn’t worked but we still have a solid club which is 1000% stronger than it was in league one.
Have a little look over the city would you swap places with them?

I think we might’ve had a shot at the keepers as they were relegated, and Defoe cant be on massive amount at rangers!, but yeah Deeney was probably too much. Yeah i agree with you i am proud of our solidity, we aren’t looking over a cliff edge with relegation which is brilliant, we were choosing from an extremely limited amount of players, very difficult position weve been in

Stop talking absolute shit. Dear me

Sorry all our signings have been absolutely spot on and brilliant and we are now reaping those benefits hopefully we have another amazing transfer window that is equally as glorious and will further cement our premiership status..

Checks table....we have 1 point.

Head meet sand, sand meet head.

Ye is has been a difficult position and our success last season hasn’t helped.
We will be incredibly strong in Christ championship and there is probably no better time to be in it there looks to be some poor teams at the moment nowhere near as strong as wen we went up.
Hopefully we go back up first time of asking and it gives us another platform to get stronger. These players have another year on their back and hopefully then ready to make the step up.

It’s the warnock comment that is utter drivel! Nobody is saying it isn’t a bad time and the record isn’t horrendous but read my previous points and point out where I am incorrect.
Unfortunately fella we cannot for afford to buy a player who’s scored goals in the PL before without smashing our wage structure to pieces. You may not like that but I would sooner we do it this way than to go down riddled with ridiculous wage bills and cripple the club long term.
Wilder always said he would put the club in trouble and he is as good as his word. Look we’re all hurting but let’s regroup next season and go again with the club and a great financial footing and a very strong squad for that league.

Some need to take off those Bladey tinted specs....how will it be before they start moaning about the lack of quality on the bench let alone the first eleven.
You only had to look at the subs Manure made to see the stark difference.
We couldn't even afford one of them to begin with.

So come on then fella who does Chris buy who fits in our wage structure? Don’t just come out with a sweeping statement like that and not back it up.
Would you rather pay £18m for Ramsdale or spend £3/4m on Foster and get a couple of seasons from him. Wages wouldn't be too much different to Ramsdale, but frees up so much more cash to invest. He's conceded the second lowest in the championship so he's not past it just yet.

Brentford signed Ivan Toney for £6m can you genuinely say he's £18m less of a player than Brewster? He’s currently top scorer in the championship.

Lowe and Bogle £8m literally what was the point in that amount on them two? Lowe doesn’t look ready for the championship.

McBurnie instead of Watkins last season when we could have got him cheaper.

The list goes on. So yes, in my opinion we’ve overspent.

When the owner can't finance your preferred signings so you have to sign your 3rd/4th choice then I don't think you can be too harsh on Chris.
When we were looking at Maupay and McBurnie, if we'd signed neither people would have gone mental and said we lack ambishun.
Compared to other teams his hands are tied.

I don't agree, Wilder is shite with spending money thats obvious. If it is a Wednesday fan saying it I completely agree.
Trouble is we have been so long in the lower leagues that we still think £20m is mega money it isn't. You don't get much better than what we had in the Championship for that sort of outlay all you get is potential. Better value overseas but again we are way behind others in our scouting network. Until we get the club infrastructure up to standard we might have to settle for being a yo yo club for a while.

I don't think the part can be emphasised enough. The problem you quite rightly point out is that the squad is littered with League 1 and Championship players having come up through the League's quicker than anyone would have predicted. Add this to now trying to integrate new players who in a lot of cases are very young players and (this takes time) you can see the problem. To top all that off, sadly the wave of momentum has gone and that was a large part of the success over the last few years. It is just sad that it has all caught up with you at the same moment in time.

It has to be said as well that Wilder does look shell-shocked right now too. It is a very sad sight to see such a turnaround from last seasons highs.

Fair doos fella, agree to some point with the wage structure but also if we never break it we will never stay or better ourselves in the premier, fine lines I guess

Exactly.

Right, it's no mega money as such in the prem. But it's sure mega money if spent on League One standard players or wasted on players who are not going to fit our system. £100m+ spent on dross is a huge mistake to make, even if £20m isn't mega money in the PL. We could've as well kept that money and buy some lads from League One. They would've been relatively cheap would've fit our wage structure, and would've made just as much difference to our team/squad than most of that £100m+ spent. There are always going to be mistakes made in the recruitement, but how Wilder managed to get so many of his signings wrong during last two windows is beyond me. The odds for a club being able to be as s*it in recruiment as we've been since promoted must be huge.

It’s not the transfer fees, that goes to the selling club, it’s the wages, we couldn’t get anywhere near the wages Villa offered Watkins, same with Cash....
