You must have been stood next to me.

Surely your memory is playing tricks though, our fans being cunts is a recent thing isn't it?
That's true, just as everyone was behind Bassett is.

You're not one of the Unstone lads are you????? .

If I decide to use the bus to go back home after the match there are always loads of Unstone Blades especially 30 years ago. The same gang would also catch the last bus (number 202 before it changed to 42 before it became no longer in service) from Dronfield Bottom on Friday nights in the 1980s

I wouldn't knock you thoughts on McNulty. He is the only "natural" finisher we've currently got and it's difficult to coach that natural ability IMO. I'd love to see him given more of a chance. I'd also really like to see Adams given more of a run. I think that, more often than not this season, he's looked a bit awe struck but he's certainly shown enough (in more games that Coutts has - thought I'd get that in before you all point out my coutts thoughts ;)) to suggest that he has something a bit different and a full pre-season with the squad might make him realise that he's here on merit.

With regard to Keith edwards. You are spot on. Did F All in most matches except put the ball in the net and win us games - although if you listen to him on Radio Sheffield he clearly did so much more than that.

Yeah Id like to see more of Adams and McNulty - not sure our manager sees it the same way.

Not as often as they used to Silent, but every so often there's still a god number of them do now.

The one I see to be the leader of this gang sits in the South Stand and we greet each other with a handshake now and then
Difficult to say who the leader would be (don't think they'd see themselves as having one:)) but the "most vocal" would probably be Cooky (Paul Cook - not the ex Chessie Manager) or Sharky (Mark Greatorex).

Never knew his name even though we would greet each other. He had dark long hair (now going grey, I think). Will ask a mate who knows him

Sounds like cooky but his hair's not long any more I don't think. As with many our age, just hanging on to what we've got.

I think it comes from a quote from an opposition defender who said something like 'he did nothing until he scored'.

It's worth remembering that a lot of the kop were always drunk, it used to stink of booze at the back where I stood. And people were too busy telling Richardson and Houston they were shit and calling Curran a cunt to watch what Edwards was doing.

I remember them days and its true . Any player who wasn't running around like a headless chicken , flying into tackles , was classed as Doing Fuck All . Thats why Richardson got a game .

Edwards was cultured and class . I can remember shouts from the terrace to Currie for being a lazy bastard .

Do times change.

Are you an Unstone lad? My mums side are all from them ends. I went on a very boozy tour of Germany with Cooky when the World Cup was on.

Just asked Benny (knows everyone in Dronfield and Unstone!) and , yes, it is Cooky. Yes, his hair isnt long anymore. He was very vocal in the bus after a night out in Dronfield in the 1980s and 1990s! Last saw Cooky near Gangway H a few months ago

We could do with a 'Stan'.

What is the point of the thread wwf? Have I missed something here because we all know his name and he perhaps should have had more game time but it's gone now and there is fuck all that me, you or anybody can do about it. Lets see him progress next season, hopefully!

45 posts later, point of thread made I think.

The whole town's talking about the Adams boy!!:D

In actual fact it was another of my "let's give Clough a fresh start seeing as we are stuck with him". This post was fun and also made the gentle point the lad is very young and couldn't be over-used.

i'm not sure that i buy into this myth about age. .i was watching the sky series on football legends the other night.. figo. ronaldo (both versions).. messi. .gerrard.. owen .. zidane..neymar.. maradonna.. all have one thing in common. .they were first team regulars at 17/18 ish.. they weren't too young lets see what they can do in five years.. (waits five years on bench).. five years passes.. ok you have five minutes . we are three nil down.. you only got us back to 3 -2 . hasn't progressed.. sell him

A woodwardfan thread is about like listening to Ed Milliband. I have no idea whether he is a fan of the club or not, a fan of the manager or not. It's just random and I have no idea what any of his threads mean most of the time :)

A mate of mine has exactly the same opinion on young players. I've challenged it on numerous occasions but I've more or less come round to his thinking. Whilst there are exceptions (such as Lineker) most top players are making first team debuts at 17/18, usually at a level above L1, particularly attacking players, and are internationals before they're 20.

It does seem that if you're good enough, you're old enough.

Che will be nineteen in November and I'd expect him to play a reasonable number of games next season.

Personally I respect Milliband and his policies, so if your comment was intended as a compliment then I'll take it as such.

I had not even noticed your presence on the site until I read the above but note you have made over twice as many posts than I have with only a few more "likes". I suggest it's you who has the bigger problem mate, if indeed either of us has a problem.

"Likes" are what they are, but generally are not given by posters who think posts are "just random and have no idea what the threads mean".

Cheap post "Sheffielder", but just for clarity - 1. I am a fan of the club 2. I am not Clough's biggest fan ( most know that!!) but I am desperate for him to succeed if he is in post for the coming season which I agree with. At this stage of the summer I am looking for positives.

there you go, have one more :)

Notts County couldn't afford to sign him. I asked why they hadn't tried and got the above answer.

Have a quick look at how many posts are actually talking about Adams, only just into double figures is my guess, there's a few reminising and a few more just light hearted fun, i don't mind any of that. Like i said earlier, we all perhaps wanted to see Adams a bit more but Cloughy decided not to for one reason or another, he is still young but the lad certainly wasn't overused, infact he was propably underused but there's nothing we can do now. Hopefully he will get a run in the side next season if Cloughy feels he's earned the chance:rolleyes::)

Thank god for that, thought I was the only one. :)
