attending 40 games, attending 2 games, all Blades are equal

Not in terms of the amount of money it costs they aren't which is what this thread directly pertains to.

Given that it's a very obvious point, I think we can safely say that you're shit-stirring.....for a change.

So if one person is unable to attend as many matches as another, he/she is not as much of a supporter?

Plenty of bigger Blades than I, most attend more games. I think it's a fair enough barometer. I think people just use the "oh you must be a Bigger Blade" jibe to shut down the debate.

Barney - would you say that a fan is the same as supporter?

I'm asking you. Yes/no.

Not my place to question anyones level of support or love for the club. That can't be measured.

What can be measured is the amount racked up throughout the season. And those who do go week in week out have more right than anyone to be aggrieved at the unreasonable cost. They at the very least don't need to be lectured by those who haven't had to incur those costs as frequently.

And I say this as someone who didn't go to every match myself last season.

It depends how you define supporter. You didn't answer my question.
Supporter/fan of the club - anyone who identifies themselves as a Blade.

To answer your question: All Blades are equal in the respect that no one person is more of a Blade than another because of how many games they attend, or any other such factor.

Now if you can answer mine. Simple yes/no btw.

Who's lecturing?

As far as I can tell an issue only arose when a certain poster labelled those who don't go, or go occasionally as "day-trippers".

If somebody attends less games I don't think it makes them less of a blade and I agree with your definition of a supporter.

However it is obviously true to say that some people put more effort and time into supporting their club than others do. Some people have other priorities which are more important, and for that reason I'd never assume I care more than anyone else because it is impossible to calculate anybody's complete list of priorities.

But just because we can't calculate it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Agree with everything you say, I must have misinterpreted your initial post.

Barney should know by now if you don't attend every game your opinion/point is invalid around these parts ;)

It is when you take offence on behalf of other people and when the discussion is about the price of tickets you don't buy and have no intention of doing so ;)

The protest against ticket prices needs to go beyond Bolton or Sheffield United.

I think a protest needs to be aimed at the FA (they fleece enough people through Wembley themselves) who should introduce a ticket price cap. A maximum price a club can charge based on the capacity of their ground.

The FSF would be the vehicle to force the point (as they did in the Premiership) but it takes a majority agreeing that the prices are unsustainable. With the amount of "well it won't make a difference anyway" and "suck it up" messages on here, we can't even agree a consensus on here... never mind asking more fans to work together.

I believe Foxy and SUSA are arranging a Twenty's Plenty banner for the game itself.

A protest against ticket prices needs be a national issue amongst fans across the PL and Football League. I think we are nearing a point where something has to be done about prices, we have already seen protests recently in the PL from like you say.

A national twenty is plenty campaign I think fans of most clubs would get behind that.

I applaud all efforts made to raise the piss-taking that fans are bearing the brunt of - when one of the biggest responses is "well just charge them more when they come to BL" then it shows how spectacularly the point is being missed and how much more work is to be done.

Agreed, as I've said before, what would be achieved by fleecing the Bolton fans? The only outcome would be that ordinary supporters in both cases would be shafted. Those charging such prices wouldn't be affected.

I don't want anyone to come to Bramall Lane and have to pay what Bolton are charging. I don't want supporters of any club anywhere having their loyalty exploited. It's an issue that goes beyond football rivalries.

Fully agree. The only way to get back at the Bolton ticket prices would be to charge any Bolton suits who want to attend their 4-0 whalloping at the Lane in February £4,000 each for the privilege.

Can't see that happening.
