No worries fella
Our Billy has exceeded everyone’s expectations, even those who wanted him back
In any event as my grandad used to say
In life there are two kinds of twats
There are twats who know they are twats
But there are twats who don’t know they are twats
They’re the ones you have to look out for

Not a bad O.P. in my opinion.

I love the lad. Always have.

If only he had never left - and he was driven out twice.

To think Wilder joined us not long after my o.p.and inherited a club which sold its best players and scraped together £500k to buy Billy Sharp.

LOOK AT US NOW!!

And no player has played a bigger role than our captain.

I'm afraid Sharp is a busted flush. If he was without a club he may be worth a punt on a cheap, 1 year contract but as he'd be the, or close to the, highest earner, I don't think he should even be considered and there are much better bets out there.
COG would be my preference but if he's no longer an option, I'd be tempted to go for Cody McDonald or even a loan for Leon Clarke over both Sharp and Doyle (whom I'm not convinced by in spite of his impressive scoring record) mainly due to NC's preferred style of play. As more of a finisher, I really can't see him being a success if NC wants him to be a mobile, hard working target man.
:D

Can I just clarify, anyone who thinks that we should sign Sharp must be basing it on 'Bladey bladeness'?

Can't I base it on the fact that we would be signing a player who scores for fun at this level, has shown that he can score at the level above when settled (ie not out on loan every few weeks like for the past 18-14 months), and who also would be working under a manager who seems to get the best from him?

McNulty comes off the bench, may get a goal, then the week after gets a start and is anonymous. He needs to work on his game so much (positioning, awareness etc), when he does we might have a player, in the mean time for me Sharp is hands down the right way to go.

You see, I explained myself all without mentioning he's a Blade.
;)

Sharp is not a target man. He's not even a goalscorer these days...We need a big mobile leader of the line to partner Matt Done who is likely to score prolifically next season. That's not Shatp is it?...but he's a Blade so that cures all ills...

Dear me, I do despair.....deep, deep despair....
Just wondering Pinchy , is this the same Matt Done that you lovingly refer to as "runaround"?

He joined 16 months after your OP. In between that time we witnessed Nigel Adkins, Dean Hammond, Martin Woolford, Conor Sammon and the Wisdom of Fucking Geese!

Far from it. I actually see beyond the wall at the end of the yard. Bladey Blades don't. Their constant 'solution' is to "Bringimback.." be it Warnock, Brown or whoever. There is a world beyond S2 and being a Blade doesn't improve your skills one jot. Why were people advocating Brian Deane for manager? Not a single person would have done so had he not played for us previously. Not a single one of Warnock's thousands of previous clubs would have him back and there is no clamour for him from their fans, yet here in parochial S2....

It appears that you don't actually know everything afterall.

Since your post Matt Done has scored 19 goals in all competitions

In that time, Sharp has scored 89

So not long after then. As you intimate it got even worse before Wilder arrived. What a manager . What a player. Agree?

He flattered to deceive. Looked the part for half a dozen games. I came to my senses much quicker than those who continued to be fooled. Whatever became of him?

Yes. I changed my mind on both a long time ago and said as much.

A word of caution. A hat-trick against Chez Vegas is not a good guidepost for the Premier League. I don’t expect Billy to be a regular starter though I do agree he will have a very significant role. I just hope some of you can learn the obvious wisdom of putting your club before your favourites. I have my doubts.

Billy Sharp's qualities have always been bleedin' obvious to anyone who understands our wonderful game. However, that excludes a considerable number of soccer fans and so-called managers too. Blackwell was clueless, and our fans obsession with the reputation of James Beattie spoke volumes too.

Nobody who understand our wonderful game calls it Soccer!

Soccer. Fucking ‘Soccer’.
