Henderson was a very expensive waste of space injured or suspended for a large amount of the time that he was here

Indeed. Had he been less injured in his last season with us, we might not have been relegated. And then there was the farce away at Watford on his return back from injury...

Henderson might not have been so bad if he'd considered it necessary to look at the ball every once in a while, rather than straight at the defender he was constantly wrestling with. He often had his back to the action because he was too busy looking at his opponent.

His technique wasn't great either. I rarely recall him hitting a shot cleanly and for a big bloke his shot power was poor.

Jeez Loughboro, do you have to remind us all of that ? Down to 9 well before half time, worst ground I've ever been to, got pissed on by some arseholed arsehole behind us, Micky "remedial rabbit in the headlights" Adams, our fans chucking vile abuse at one of their players as he was stretchered off breathing through an oxygen mask ...

Despite the all-round nightmare that was Port Vale three weeks ago, Watford away that season is still a recent low point for me. (Shudder).

I made quite a bit of the potential potency of an Evans / Sharp frontline back in the day.

Unfortunately, a dickhead of a manager we once had preferred some prat called relish who couldn't trap a bag of cement !

So in this same way, I suspect that a frontline of Sharp / McNulty might also tear L1 defences a new one.

UTB.

Billy Sharp wouldn't have scored 50 goals for us if we had played him every game since we signed him second time around. Sorry but it had nothing to do with managers or styles of play, he just crumbled under the pressure of playing for the team he loved.

Yet Henderson scored more goals than Sharp but some would have Billys boots back but never Darius. Crazy.

Henderson has been playing for five years longer than Sharp yet has about 25 fewer competitive career goals. Looking at what they did solely in their time for us is irrelevant seeing as none of the players we have now were here at the same time as either of them and we have a different manager and play at a different level. Sharp has proved to be a better goal scorer throughout his career.

And Henderson's just a shithouse. :)

But he wouldn't have scored 50 goals for us had he played every game between his signing and now.

I still held out hope that season up until the red cards in the game - you could feel in the away end a collective sense of 'it's all over'. Certainly I came away from that with a clear feeling we were definitely going down. Just a dire afternoon - and inexcusable from Henderson that day given the predicament we were in.

Snap ! Uncanny. Could have written exactly those words myself. (Scunthorpe away--another big shudder).

Billy sharp was crap when he was not stood off side, when he was offside he was,,,, errr offside. But he is just the daft stupid pointless signing that McCabe would make in the thought it would unite the fan base.

You have to love him don't you

Question is when he was stood offside was he still crap or did he improve but couldn't play the ball due to the offside rule?

Is this a proven goalscorer?

Its a fair point BB.

Maybe Sharp has deteriorated in recent months.

But you must also know many of the 19 games are as sub, and for reasons unfathomable to me, Sharp has been used a lot as a left sided midfield player while at Leeds !!! Beggars belief I know.

Ipswich are indeed after his services and they are looking good for play offs minimum. Maybe Mick knows something almost every one else does not ;)

My "favourite" I Hate Darius Henderson moment was his miss against Boro when we lost 2-1. That game more or less confirmed relegation.

For me, Sharpe is potentially better than what we've got at the moment. His heart would be in it, and he'd run forever. His style of play would suit Clough's tactics. I'd be happy to get him if we missed out on SOG provided we didn't pay a fortune. It would be a gamble but him and McNulty might work well together.

I was at the Leeds Utd v Birmingham game as part of the match day sponsor..... We were asked to pick the man of the match. The Leeds utd representative didn't find me funny when I voted for sharp, he got about 7 mins and ran around without a clue.

I'm afraid Sharp is a busted flush. If he was without a club he may be worth a punt on a cheap, 1 year contract but as he'd be the, or close to the, highest earner, I don't think he should even be considered and there are much better bets out there.
COG would be my preference but if he's no longer an option, I'd be tempted to go for Cody McDonald or even a loan for Leon Clarke over both Sharp and Doyle (whom I'm not convinced by in spite of his impressive scoring record) mainly due to NC's preferred style of play. As more of a finisher, I really can't see him being a success if NC wants him to be a mobile, hard working target man.

Speaking to a Leeds fan on Saturday (forgive me) he said Billy Sharp Is actually a bit of a fans favourite at Elland Road but they have recently changed their formation and he doesn't really fit in.

I don't think they rate Sharp highly but like when he was here they want him to do well as he gives it his all. I think next season he will be playing in League One even if its not with us.

Preston are in for him on loan with a view to a permanent deal.Source is i'm not telling you:)

If Mick at Ipswich is interested , it would not surprise me if Mr Clough was . The player for me would be COG but i feel that is now gone.

I think we tend to forget how young McNuts is and still going through the learning curve . Sharp would be a good buy , but its whether or not , he is still chasing the money , and not being bothered what colour shirt he pulls on. like 99% of players .

As many say - its just a job.
