I was at the Leeds Utd v Birmingham game as part of the match day sponsor..... We were asked to pick the man of the match. The Leeds utd representative didn't find me funny when I voted for sharp, he got about 7 mins and ran around without a clue.
Leeds fans don't find anything funny. To a man they're all miserable spunktrumpets with egos inflated more than Katie Price's tits. They don't get the joke. Any joke.

It's true isn't it ? I have a job explainING how Leeds people are different to other Yorkshire men I don't fully understand it myself to be fair

I used to feel the same but now I knock around with Leeds lads all the time. Blades fans are few and far between here, but there are plenty of Leeds. I even went to the LUFC supporters club Christmas do in December. Yes, they are a little deluded and seem to think that their club's rightful place is in the Champions' League every season, but apart from that they are decent blokes. They even joined in a drunken rendering of the GCB song at the pub Christmas party to wind up some pigs. Their humour is very much like that of Sheffielders' though they do tend to "big up" their city somewhat, while we put ours down.

Admittedly these are expat professionals and not scummers from Belle Isle

The last two people I met from leeds never stopped going on about the city being the pride of yorkshire, leeds united being untouchable on and (sadly) off the pitch...

They're living in a time warp big style, well, the two lads actually wern't, because when I asked them whereabouts in leeds they lived, they said "oh we live here in york now".

They're just like the scousers, always going on about liverpool but moving away as soon as possible then never going back..

I work in Leeds, and they are all closet Leeds fans, big them up all the time, but never go. They are in a time warp, they still go on about how they are a big club, and hark back to the Revie days, Billy Bremner etc etc. they still go one about the last time they won the league, and there European experiences. However it is living in the past, but unfortunately there past in the last 30 years has been better than ours.
Leeds has a better city centre though, so I dislike them even more.

For me, Sharpe is potentially better than what we've got at the moment. His heart would be in it, and he'd run forever. His style of play would suit Clough's tactics. I'd be happy to get him if we missed out on SOG provided we didn't pay a fortune. It would be a gamble but him and McNulty might work well together.

I think he's a bit too similar to McNulty myself

Who's SOG? What a forward line we might have, COG passes to SOG, who returns the ball to COG.....

A lovely couple we know are Leeds season ticket holders and we always have banter when we go for a meal. On one occasion just before the semi last year, we were out with them and he was going on about Leeds as usual. I said to him that I was going to show him something he'd never seen before.

I took out my semi final ticket :D he took it well :)

Amazing things going on at Ipswich under McCarthy. His inexpensivesignings since the summer: Steven Hunt, Noel Hunt, Berra, Luke Chambers, Skube, Darryl Murphy, McGoldrick, Bru, Tabb, Sears, McQueen, Ambrose, Paddy Kenny. and maybe now Sharp. They all seem to have gelled very quickly. Does big Mick know what he's doing? Maybe Billy Sharp can play after all.

Course Big Mick knows what he's doing.

Thanks for putting your thoughts on the end of a current thread Lowen, it may seem petty when I go on about people starting a new thread instead of just posting on a current thread that covers their thoughts but seeing peoples thoughts and views change and develop over a long time makes the thread more interesting when you look back at it and read through it.

For what it's worth I feel Billy may be past his best but I'm happy for the manager to decide.

i'd rather have 12 goals from a past his best sharp (playing for his favourite team under a manager who knows his game) than not

The other guy Adkins buys will do that ;)

...or maybe he can score 12 in the last 15-30 minutes over a season when we need a plan B (that thing we lacked the last two seasons) in games and the other striker of the two up front can score 20 over 46 x 60-75 minutes?

You never know...

from DAVE78 on BM:

Already submitted interest to Leeds, regarding Billy Sharp. No doubt he would drop to League One,to reunite with Adkins, if Rosler allows him to leave.

Dave78 who said Holt was signing and a new manager was being announced last week?

He's played for every club NA has managed bar Bognor so it's hardly a leap of faith.

Do you just have the one blanket statement? Take away your hatred for ex players and you might see that under Adkins, Sharp 'might' be worth re-visiting.

Far from it. I actually see beyond the wall at the end of the yard. Bladey Blades don't. Their constant 'solution' is to "Bringimback.." be it Warnock, Brown or whoever. There is a world beyond S2 and being a Blade doesn't improve your skills one jot. Why were people advocating Brian Deane for manager? Not a single person would have done so had he not played for us previously. Not a single one of Warnock's thousands of previous clubs would have him back and there is no clamour for him from their fans, yet here in parochial S2....

Sharp is not a target man. He's not even a goalscorer these days...We need a big mobile leader of the line to partner Matt Done who is likely to score prolifically next season. That's not Shatp is it?...but he's a Blade so that cures all ills...

Dear me, I do despair.....deep, deep despair....
