Three seasons ago, we were used to cutting low level deals down a few divisions.
Now we are applying he same criteria to deals at the very top. The incentive is better for incoming players, but the deal needs just as much thought and handling of fine details on a 10m pound deal, as it did in division one for half a million. Maybe more so.
On Wilder's criteria alone, you need to understand the player and why he wants to come. Then there's the selling club, players agent, and our own board to consider. Don't forget, this is the first year he has been buying players from non native countries.
Meanwhile, the players who got you here are starting to rumble about money. Wilder will only spend money like it's his own. So the door to door salesmen, (Duffy's agent) get short shrift. It's a distraction he doesn't need right now.
The club transfer team have had to cope with rapidly changing circumstances, but keep the focus on what Wilder wants. Not an easy task. Let them get on with it, and let him manage the team. It's what he does best.
