It would be madness not to bring in a decent replacement for JOC.I don’t see us getting anyone, we stick with what we have

It's madness to assume that it's as easy as you seem to think it is.It would be madness not to bring in a decent replacement for JOC.
“Kean comes back into the squad now. This is his big opportunity to push Jack for that role. He’s been patient, we’re really looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the Premier League.”
Not good news at all.
Has JOC recovered?![]()

I can see now it might have been an error in making this quote too plausible...The problem is, it's hard to place too much credence in that as he said only two weeks ago "it'd be foolish to think Jack can play in that role for the rest of the season."
It's clear this flip flop is disingenuous and the reality is that the budget wasn't there for a replacement.
We already know what Jack can bring to that role and it's not what we need.
There should always be a back up budget for emergencies, although you’d think a loan could sort this anyhow? The problem is, it's hard to place too much credence in that as he said only two weeks ago "it'd be foolish to think Jack can play in that role for the rest of the season."

Looks like they are. To be fair a team loaning upwards in a position which is niche would seem a bit of a stretch. Is our scouting / recruitment department really saying there was no player on loan who might have improved either our left side of defence or our lack of creativity in midfield
boggles my mind that we’ve not taken every avenue available to improve these areas - especially after the crap start we’ve had.
We are leaving the possibility of recruiting someone who could have an impact like Henderson did for us without perusing it.
Not complaining about the window overall as I think we’ve added some decent players. Though realistically only one is a ‘potential’ improvement on the prior year squad in Brewster (and he’s unproven). The 11 without especially without JOC / moose’s contribution is weaker and it going to rely on a massive contribution from Brewster to overcome this.

We know where we stand.
I hope Chris goes down the Stevens route or shows some flexibility and considers Ampadu at LCB. He's too good not to be in our XI at the moment. christ he was starting for RB Leipzig in the Champions League vs Spurs not long back!
With Robinson, offensively, it feels like we are fighting with our left arm tied behind our back.
Defensively he's the sort of player who is waiting to get sent off with one of his all action tackles; he's come close twice now, and he just doesn't seem the guy for the key moments - could have scored the winner vs Leeds, minutes later ended up in no man's land as Bamford ghosted between 2 defenders. Fine margins. But fine margins in matches that we could do with winning. Last year we took 6 points from Norwich. This year it is a maximum of 3 from Leeds having already lost.
Not good news at all.

Let’s hope so, a creative player is a must too!Interesting that CW says not bringing a defender in today. Leaves open possibility of bringing in other positions.
In fairness Wilder did say that while they were keen to get someone in, he left it open to us not doing so and finding a temporary solution within the squad. That could mean flexibility on the right-footer at LCB front where Ampadu is concerned, or moving Stevens, or giving Kean Bryan the opportunity we’ve all unanimously been pushing for him to be given at LCB up against Premier League opposition. The reason presumably is we haven't got the money to buy a permanent and we have failed on the loan front. I don't see any other incomings today in other positions, hope I'm wrong. It would have been helpful if Giddings had elaborated in his tweet as to the reasons why bearing in mind a few weeks ago the manager was saying this was a position we needed to get cover in.
Very concerning that we don't appear to have a contingency built into the budget to cover the loss of a key player for the season. I fear we will be conceding a lot more goals than last season as a result of this decision as our weakness in the air down the left hand side is exploited.

I mean I’d like to see it would be my second choice behind cooper and will be far cheaper due to the contract situation. Has a similar positional profile to JOC where he was a “big” leftback earlier in his career career and had then got plenty of game time at centre half after that. Bournemouth were after him as an ake replacement in the summer as well as us and I think Preston fans rate him.Sky sports reporting were interested. I'd expect us to get him in january as preston would fear losing for a free in the summer? Is he any good?
It depends if Preston would take a minimal fee now or hold on till the summer I can’t see us paying over a mill for him.All talk from us is we can't buy. A loan with a fee due in the summer when he would technically be free? May work doubt it though
