It's totally standard in Spanish speaking countries to use both parents' surnames.

Mad that anyone would have an issue with him adding his Mum's maiden name to honour his change of circumstances. He's automatically had Chilean citizenship since birth. I think he got his Chilean passport recently when all this kicked off so maybe the change was to coincide with that.

Baldock is Greek through his grandparents - it'd be a bit odd if he took his Nan's name and both his parents being British! It's not a custom in Greece anyway, that's more relevant.

Also he does have a Greek name - FIFA/UEFA dictate that the Roman alphabet is used on shirts but if he ever played in the Greek league I'm certain he'd use it. It's Μπόλντοκ, if you want to know.

I think everyone feels the same on this deal re the lack of buy option and that Archer will be with Villa next season unless we win another 8/9 games. However, at least the Prince is backing Wilder and that's got to be a good thing. I'm confident even if we go down this season that with Wilder in charge and some if the parachute money to spend that we'll be up there next season.

Burnley are not looking good financially for next season, they'll need to sell before they buy and that can mean they miss out on players. Selling Ndiaye and Berge late into the last window screwed us over and I don't see a repeat situation for us this summer.

Tbf who could we sign who is definitely up to this level? Salah? There’s not a cat in hells chance we’d even be able to sign anyone proven in the PL. BBD is arguably in the top calibre we can realistically attract.

He did get 14 last season, 20+ the season before, sometimes plays on the wing, and has only started 2 games this season.

I'm not his biggest fan, but we have a goal scorer already and we can't afford £20 million again for another, we might as well get service to him and make the team stronger around him.

All people on here ever seem to want us to do is look at next season. Every season!

When are we actually going to look at the here and now? We’ve got half a season left and rather than just pack our things up and write that off to plan for a future that never seems to transpire, for once I’d just like us to show a bit of fucking fight and think you know what, we’re actually going to go for it now and try our best to stay up.

On a match by match basis, we could legitimately get a positive result in each of the next 7 outings.

I don’t see Gillingham, West Ham at home, Palace, Villa at home, Luton, Brighton at home, Wolves as games we can’t win.

I’d perhaps be a fool to suggest we’ll win all 7. But taking each game at a time, and giving ourselves the best possible chance by short term improving the XI, we can compete for the win in each.

We don’t look hopelessly lost this time under Wilder, like we did when we were depleted in 2020/21.

So to me, it’s right to give it a go. We were very unfortunate against Luton; they’ll never get a game where such fortune goes their way.

We have to believe and now we are here we have to give it a go.

Otherwise when will we? We have some decent young players to help build on if we go down.

We need to do our best to achieve PL survival before 6 months is up.
If we don't, we will probaly lose the best players - if we do () we might be able to keep and we'll start off with a new shopping list and much better budget!
