What is his best position though?

He doesn’t get played centrally because he isn’t switched on enough defensively and turns the ball over too much.

I understand why Wilder puts him out left and gives him freedom to come inside.

The only other way is to play a midfield 3 with two behind him or play 4-2-2-2 and no obvious width. He’s not that easy to accommodate which sounds daft but you know what I mean. You have to cover for his inefficiency as well as benefit from his efficiency
His best position is in our team is off the left where he gets played.

Do you think any of these players are good enough for the PL if we were to get to the playoffs and win promotion? Compared to our first season going up none of these players apart from Bamford would be anywhere near the first team, not Hamer not Cooper not anyone in fact I’m not even convinced they’d get in Heckys promoted team.

You have hardly ever played him in his best position. That's in the middle further up the pitch. It isn't his job to do the defending. His job is to pull the other side apart and make sure your opponents leave a few players back.

You are of course exactly right. Hamer, and O'Hare, are not wingers.

Our best lineup is much the same as we played with MGW and N'Daiye in that they should be high-attack midfielders in support of the sole attacker.

---------------------------------Cooper/Greenwich (not Davies)---------------------

Seriki/Hoever---------Tangagnga/Mee-------Binden/McGuines----Burrows/Hjelde

---------Brooks/Ogbene-----------Peck/Arblaster-----Riederweld/Rothwell/Chong-

--------------------------Hamer/Philips---------------O'Hare/Philips-----------------

----------------------------Campbell/Cannon/One/Bamford--------------------------

We go 4-3-2-1 (or even 4-3-3) in possession and fall back to 4-5-1 defending Either way, it gives Hamer and O'Hare chance to run at the opposition

It's a shame we can't play One now as this would be the ideal time to bring him through into the 1st team. Maybe could try Beattie or someone later on when there isn't anything to play for.

I'd argue the loans haven't been great this season. I suspect same quality or so next year is realistic.

Peck? Who is buying him?

2 extra play off places next year. It won't be easy but unfortunately that's why I was SO pissed off at sacking Wilder and the summer absolutely destroying our chances.
When boro ,cov and prob ipswich go up he will be in their sights , the boro star player is in newcastleand sunderland sights if you read the forums,
Hamer hasntbeen brilliant overall this seaso
brookes will be a leefs targrt if gnonto goes
Sufc are well down the pecking order for decent playersn

Don't have a problem with them being targets/even moving on. Although what we can't do is undervalue these players. Peck is an England U21 international and has potential to reach higher pinnacles with better players around him. The deal has to be worth at least £20 million with add on's maybe even more. The example I like to give is Berge, when playing at Burnley he wasn't great however when he got a switch to Fulham with them having that upgrade on players to Mid-table Premier League rather than relegation candidates Berge looked a class above. Peck has that potential to step-up but needs a club, Sunderland would be a good choice, if I was him. However he also needs a side he has an actual chance of being played in, the risk of going to Newcastle or one of the recent top sides is you only play cup matches.

helps if you get the penalties you deserve?

The elephant in the room is who we loose at the end of the season

Hamer Peck Seriki Brooks ?

You are talking in a football sense the wages sunderlamd and newcastle would offer would ( like most ) turn his head
Looks like newky are having a clear out at end of season, their midfield have been poor this year
, wouldnt be suprised if he went

As others have said, take away the first 10 games of the season and we're a solid play-off team.

Take away the disastrous summer recruitment and we're probably a solid top 2 team.

Such is life!

But - that is the measure of us. Think about what we did last season. Up to Feb we were in with a real shout of autos. This against Burnley and Leeds who this season would batter us bendy. Sunderland were nowhere to be seen. Then we set fire to ourselves in the last five games (typically) and despite looking tasty against BCFC completely lose it at Wembley.

Nothing suggests to me we are any improvement on that right now. Let's just accept this season has had a mission - not to be relegated - and we aren't likely to be now.

Anything else is just farts under the eiderdown, isn't it?
So a season of an occassional breath of fresh air, overpowered by foul odours😉

Playoffs is a pipe dream and we are nowhere near organised nor capable for a go at it. We've sold badly and recruited worse, we are missing Sousa and Anel and have had a dreadful start thanks to chimping about backstage with AI recruitment and the incapabilities of Selles.

Wilder is here but we are far from the team he had last year and now face a tough run in just to finish above half way. The season is in effect done, the mission to not join Wednesday in Div One is completed and we should stop believing that we will sneak it because even if we did, we'd bottle it again and even if we didn't and went up, we'd be straight back down without at least £200m of investment COH just doesn't have.

The things we can take from this season are bitter relief and joy at Wednesday's demise. Let's keep it real, keep supporting them and hope that 2026-27 has more to offer.

UTB
Hate to admit it but we are a middle of the table championship side and that’s being generous
