When you drop from the PL to the Championship it’s unrealistic to expect that we’d spend a lot on players. The onus is on balancing the books and wheeling and dealing in the market.

I find it absolutely hilarious that anyone can be precious about a single player who was here and part of that horror show last season. Not one single player is exempt of blame.

I wouldn’t mourn the departure of anyone from last season other than the two youngsters and Hamer at a push. It was vital we purged the club of that collective experience. Especially in defence.

If we can sell a couple more and reinvest again I’d welcome it.

This could be a problem for United because he will be so impressive doing practically nothing that a Premier League club will give Celtic £30 million for him............it'd be funny if it was Arsenal.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he went to Germany, Spain or even a newly promoted Prem team next summer for 15m+. So much scouting is done through data (where he presumably he looks decent) and playing in the SPL is going to really hide his deficiencies. Hope we have a sell on to protect against that.

But for us, right now, this seems like a cracking deal. Yes we need a new LCB but I think we needed one even with him here. And even if it’s just to balance the books, I’m happy it’s Trusty and Traore, not Hamer.

Potentially a good move for all three parties. Seemed like a nice guy, good luck to him.

He may not be, but he was only ever going to be a squad player this season anyway.

Whether we like it or not, JLT will start most games, but with Soutar alongside him that is already a huge step up from Anel, who will now need to fight for a spot to retain his stock.

And in any case, I think I would rather see a fit and firing RND as the first LCB back up than Trusty. Whether we have a fully fit and firing RND is still debatable, but he seems to be getting there.

Apparently he's got to get a work permit which could be a problem to obtain in such a short time but I'm guessing that Celtic will have known this so presumably they are confident of the work permit side.
