For all the talk of Norwich being more ambitious than us they sold their 4 best players for £40-60m last season including their best midfielder to Ipswich for £10m
Which is kinda ambitious, they get top brass for their players. We get a wham bar and a Thorntons chocolate selection box for ours.

Overseas on holiday this week, and Mrs. Grappler got a message, before the rumour surfaced, from a friend-of-a-friend, saying Brooks to Norwich, £8 million, rising to £10 million, with add-ons.

I said "no chance, someone is winding you up ".

She was right, I was wrong, is Andre Brooks really only worth £8 million?

Very sad to see him go, one of the few players who ran forward, at players and attempted to dribble around them.

GLTTL.

Brooks comments when Selles came in:

“The new manager likes to coach a lot, so that's always good, for us as players to know what we need to do every day in training. I feel like it's been good. It's a lot different to last season. For example, he's coming and telling me what need to do. What his morals are, on the pitch and off the pitch. It's always good to have that as well.”

It's so obvious there was a rift and we all knew Brooks and Siriki would be off this window.

The best one was when Wilder blamed them both for the fa cup humiliation to Mansfield....after he brought them on at 4-1 down.

Brooks will have been touted round every club in this country and elsewhere by his agent knowing we would accept a reasonable bid . Nobody on here knows the finer detail of the deal or the final fee .all made up bollox

Or maybe he just tweeted the truth. Radical concept I know. Football fans and hard truths...

The issue I have is the idea that players are helpless and at the mercy of agents.

If Brooks saw he could become a millionaire at the stroke of a pen, I don’t blame him for signing. It would have been his call. Especially if the club said they wouldn’t counter offer.

Ultimately the club always decides to sell the player. Not the agent, not the manager or football staff, and not the player. They don't have that power. They decide whether to go along with it. There's precipitating factors within our control. That's what I blame the club for. Two years left, and the bean counters want him to either sign or leave. One year left and they desperately want him to either sign or leave( even if the player is Ndiaye quality)

If we sell Osula for potential, how do we not eclipse that with way, way, way more for Brooks, who had already started to perform at a first team level?!

Absolute fucking joke. I'm so fucked off about this.

Exactly

Either Wilder is in charge or he isn't . It can't be anytime something goes well it's Wilder, everytime it doesn't it's the owners ffs.

Wilder didn't like Brooks. I don't believe this was forced on him at all. He isn't the right sort of character and he takes risks when he's carrying the ball.

Who said he had a desire to move on ? He was our best player last season with excellent potential, selling is the united way. Up to now the owners have been incompetent by hiring Seles, spunking money on terrible loans, then rehiring a manager that is behind time with football and tactics. You keep clapping Wilder and the owners,it’s what you do whatever evidence is in front of you.
He has the decision whether to move or not: he cannot be forced to.
Clearly he chose to move to Norwich otherwise he would still be with us.
Why do you think he had no desire to move ?
What his move has to do with anyone supporting Wilder on here is erroneous.

I posted months ago that him and Seriki would both go. Wilder always criticised them. I think they didn't go along with his drinking culture. They may have even committed the ultimate sin of not referring to him as the Gaffer. Maybe some of the money raised will go to paying loan fees for an old crock who will be injured for most of the season but be worth it if they used to play for England and promise to refer to Wilder as Gaffer.

Talk about twisting a fact to suit your agenda. If we had sold Josh Sargent and signed Andre Brooks you'd be whining even more than usual.
Where’s the twisting? You mean “pointing out facts”

Is it whining, or just pointing out the reality of the situation? I’m sorry I don’t live in fantasy land where everything’s all peachy.

Call it how it is. We’re a laughable excuse of a football club with absolutely no idea on how to progress or plan for the future.

Are people in the football industry not allowed to take a holiday George??

If they are then when would you expect them to take them if not during pre season?

If you're insinuating they're not allowed them then I reckon we'd have a real shortage of managers in a very short space of time and probably break every employment law going.
And they have to work for nowt, too 🤷‍♂️😳

I know you did mate and like I say I love the optimism but there’s no athletes in that midfield, theres 2 aging players, 1 tiny player (although I like him), 1 awful player and one that that got better in people’s minds the longer he was out injured. I wish I shared your optimism but I really don’t like it and just hope we have something lined up other than Kalvin Phillips.
I get What you are saying. You are right they are not box to box types. Rothwell and Philips aren't blessed with pace but they are experienced.
I'm not really the optimistic type. I've been a Blade too long for that. I too hope theyve got someone better in mind to add to what we are likely to have.
It's always the same with us. We never hang on to good prospects. We always sell and usually buy lesser quality players. I've been watching for fifty years and nothings changed. Ever. So why should it now. I can hope I suppose. But it's the hope that kills you.

Maybe the plan is to move Seriki to right wing or as mentioned in another thread, play a back 5 with Walker/Seriki sharing right wing back role?
