He's only 21.
He does look very athletic and puts himself about.

Loads to learn, but let's not knock him too much. He may have something to offer eventually but he needs a loan out in Jan.

Soumaré needs binning off sharpish. He's so erratic. A really disappointing signing.

Quite obvious he isn't up to championship standard (not yet at least) so I'd loan him out in January and see if he can develop.

I know he's a few years older but he reminds me of when Seriki played against Forest in 2022, you could just tell he wasn't ready and look what happened a few years later.

Obviously Matos would have to develop much quicker than that, but I wouldn't be so quick to cut our losses on him just yet.

I think the number of changes disrupted our momentum and we struggled at times during the game.

We probably shouldn’t draw too many conclusions about individual performances based on tonight alone. There wasn’t a significant shift when the regular starters came on in the second half, but they won’t be judged on one match. The same standard should apply to those who were drafted into the side under the circumstances.

I know Chelsea have a tonne of players and quite obvious he wasn’t going to make it there. I can’t see the fee being massive, we could afford to loan him out in Jan and potentially a season long loan next season and have the final year of his contract to decide what to do, either sell on, extend or run it down

You should know by now how quick some of the “experts” on here are to write a player off, especially a young one. Quite a few of the cretins have posted this evening. They do serve a purpose though, it’s always good to have a few clowns around to laugh at.

He’s a young lad who joined an awful team so I don’t judge him harshly. But I found his body language a bit troubling tonight.

I expected to see a bundle of energy, but he had his hands on his knees a lot, and generally looked inhibited by his role.

Maybe he’s at his best just bombing around and having a sitting midfielder behind him?

Soumare is especially disappointing, as we'd have known that if we stayed down we'd lose Vini, so presumably put in a good amount of planning to find a replacement. I remember had to sit waiting for a work permit for Soumare as well. Gobsmacking that we had months to figure our who could be our new DM, and this guy was the answer we came up with.

agreed captain soumare isnt good enough matsos is too raw and davies is a crock i think we need to bring another midfielder in as well as riedawald

Matos at least looked fairly quick, he played a season last year with Oxford so he has a bit of Championship experience. He hasn't played a game for us in ages so he will also be a bit out of match fitness.

In reality, he is one for the future, either with us or not, time will tell.

If he hadn't been on the bench, I am guessing it would have been calling up an U21 with even less experience. We don't want to be relying on him this year but still might develop into a good player.

I am not sure he will get loaned out as he probably is better than League 1 level and loaning to a championship side seems a bit odd.

I don't think we put a great deal of planning into anything under this ownership.

Feels like a player struggling for a purpose. He’s athletic, strong, there’s obviously something in there for him to end up at Chelsea. He played a very weird role at Oxford, he was a defensive midfielder but playing behind a forward, i think this has harmed his development as he hasn’t really defined a position.

Everything looks a bit rushed, he needs a calm head next to him walking him through games. Ironically someone like Reidewald.

Looks for all the world like he should be a full back but then when he came on at right back a few games back it was one of the worst performances in a Sheffield United shirt I've ever seen. A very odd player - would loan him out to League 1 and get a better back up from elsewhere

Athletic and strong!!!! He looks weak and ineffective, not sure how he can be deemed athletic. More like arthritic, weak, slow and rushed. Apart from that he has great potential.

He was pretty woeful but I've seen much worse players at his age turned into decent pros

I suppose none of you ever get anxious or suffer from nerves
I bet you all flew through your driving test like an RAF pilot

On current form he looks the worst of our midfield possibilities.

From the man that said Joe Root wasnt good enough for Englands Test Team

I think I may just dismiss your opinions as total bollocks 😂
