Didn’t Nixon say that we weren’t offering him a new deal because of the takeover, hinting that the money would be available to buy much better?

Everything has been spent, the land, the hotel, the HSBC arena, not even a pot left to piss in, so let's hope there's some truth in the cowboys and Indians coming in.
 
The smokescreen is to deflect attention from the lack of activity in the recruitment. Get everyone talking about who are the people taking us over. Hence a ready made excuse when we get to August and are scrambling around in the last minute shopping zone.

Sorry I just do not trust the Prince - he is at the point when he does not give a shit about the fans - only interested in securing as much money back as possible through pushing selling price up as far as he can. However, I do think that he will know that if he can’t sell this summer & we are not promoted next season - the value of the club will plummet like a stone.

I don’t get why people make arguments personal ! It’s a forum ! Everyone has a point of view and we will all disagree with some and not with others . What’s the point in getting personal ? The fact we all have different perspectives makes the forum a great place . Sometimes it descends into like being in a school playground!

Wilder has been saying for weeks we will have a team that can compete,no guarantees in that.
To be competitive we have to bring in a number of players without a budget that would be impossible so Wilder talking shit! or he has a budget to work with.
Takeover or not that has to be on the table surely! or am I missing something.
This takeover hasn't sprung up overnight and they will be aware without recruitment we are in deep shit! .Seem s unlikely they or the Prince would put a stop to Wilder continuing to build a balanced squad.

Just using my common sense to see where we are.
Prince or New owners if the takover happens have to support Wilder or ! I think he would resign ! being a big blade it would put us in the picture !

And he backtrack now and tries to explain it using the takeover angle to try and keep some credibility

The middle ground is that, under current ownership, we have cleared the decks of all the old, inflated PL contracts that 30+Yr olds were on and we have at least some of rhe parachute payments to spend on transfer fees to replace them and in doing so will still have a lower wage bill. Anyone who thinks we are just going with the 15 left on the retained list is deluded.

However the takeover negotiations are stalling our rebuild as the budget could be different under new owners.

What's worrying is this is Sheffield United and we seem to have been through this kind of shit many times before.

Perhaps this time we actually come out smelling of roses, but given past history I understand the scepticism of many !!

Now it’s because we didn’t have funds, but if the takeover goes through he might get a contract with extra cash available.

Something feels very off, I assume people at the club feeding the media absolute shit. While I have no doubt something is very live with this takeover, this kind of stuff worries me.

I'd imagine that none of the rags actually know and are just trying to put their spin on it for views. I'd imagine we've learnt to keep a very tight ship these days with information being leaked after previous seasons. My view is that we didn't want to retain him on the premier league contract as he wasn't worth that money. We have now offered him reduced terms which is now with him to consider. Yes he's a useful player to have but he's not guaranteed to be in the starting 11 so seems daft to keep him on higher wages when that money can be spent elsewhere to improve the first team.
 
my take on the osborn situation is that funds were so tight if the takeover didnt happen that we were releasing him and making do this move tells me the takeover is close and we can now afford osborn as a squad player but thats the only way he will get a deal imo

United submit retained list which states "in talks with: osborn" and old Nixon keeps that one fresh to pull a few in for his Sunday column, and it worked.

I said it the reason Osborne wasn't offered a deal was money basically in confirms it I saw us spending big money not a chance .
