Adkins' sarcastic applause

It might be worth you watching the highlights or re-reading the match reports from that game. An absolute travesty that we lost that game - and not a managerial one.

I was there, I don't need to watch it again.
I suggest you view without the red and white tinted glasses.
We started very well, but eased off after Brayford came off. Due to the managerial shuffle round and moving Basham.

On paper, that's absolutely right. I'm allowing feeling to come into this, though - I can't think of other examples of poor starts like this that turns into success. Barnsley stuck with Johnson because, despite losing, they were playing some good stuff. We aren't.
We aren't playing good stuff, i agree but we are still only 2 points outside the playoffs so there is a base for Adkins to work from if we don't go up this season, incidently, a manager who has proved time and time again that he can get promotions from this league.

In patches we've played outstanding.

Bradford and Peterbrough first half spring to mind.

Why we've not been able to consistently play like this is a major issue.

What would your advice have been TonyAgana. If you were Collins and Maguire came up to you and said, 'we are in league 1, Premiere League Hull want to sign me what should I do?'.

I think if any of us were honest we would say 'go for it lad, it's a fantastic opportunity'. What other answer in all honesty is there?

Of course how and in what circumstance this all came to the attention of Clough I have no idea. Do any of us think Clough would have stopped with us if a premiere League club had come knocking for him? If he was man enough he too would have said to Maguire that it was a great opportunity and that he wouldn't hold his ambition back. Instead he fell out with all concerned.

Maguire is now a fixture for Hull at the top of the Championship and in 4 months time could well be a Premiere League player.
That's the manager's job; to manage the team. You're probably right, it comes down to the circumstances surrounding it, but I would honestly feel the same way. No malice at all towards Harry, great opportunity etc., but openly advising our best player to pack his bags is, bottom line, a serious disciplinary issue.

The analogy with Clough and a Prem club, if he asked for advice and a board member said "sure, take it", I'd be having words with the board member.

It seems to me that every change he makes to the team, the worse we get.

We were fucking robbed, mate.

PS, I hope you're not categorising me as a clapper :D

Agree but they were exceptions really, other than Bradford mainly in the second half and P'boro in the first i'm struggling to see where we have played outstanding. We have ground most of our results out and until we get better players in we will keep having to use the same tactics.

Yes I agree

Saturday i agree but other than that it hasn't been as evident as you make out. I think you have exaggerated that a bit, mate, just because of Saturday which is to be expected because it's easier to remember the recent events.

Don't make me laugh, have you forgotten what a total mess Clough made of last season and what a total mess he left behind. He's now ruining Burton after they looked good for the autos.

Yep, it certainly looks that way, in your own mind anyway. In the real world, the form table suggests otherwise.

But did he openly advise him? We don't know, it could have been an overheard private conversation for all we know. Collins was penalised by Clough for giving a colleague what in hindsight was the correct advice. The analogy would actually be Clough confiding in his assistant manager and being advised to take the Premiere League job.

As you point out Clough's job was to manage the team. How did he achieve this by falling out with and then ostracising Collins a competent League 1 centre half when what we needed at the time was a competent League 1 centre half?

Of course now it's water under the bridge but was compounded by Cloughs failure to replace Maguire.

True. Some can't even accept differences in opinions though which is why such arguments appear. It does beg the question of their registration to an online forum, because presumably they would have been aware of said differences in opinion beforehand. I suppose it's always going to be the easier option to resort to personal abuse as opposed to respect and reasonable debate. Well, for the narrow minded at least. Reasonable debate and a refusal to accept others' opinions are two levels that stay distinctly seperate. Which is why I shouldn't really be engaging with them on my level. I always seem to get dragged in and lowered to their level though.

...the comedy continue's, but the act is weakening.
You've gonna have to put a little more light and shade in there if you want to carry on with it!

A difference of opinion is one thing, but what you're presenting is an agenda.
You don't rate any of the clubs best players, Brayford, Done, Sharp ( terrible signing!) ..not even Kennedy, whom you claimed you'd rather have in the team than the current CB's knowing full well his injury history. ( that was 'a cracker' tbf)

Even when the club get's a good result or someone scores a good goal there's no praise!
Even the most cynical Blade would at least look for a positive sometime...you talk about 'narrow minds', whilst appearing to demonstrate a papers width view of the club yourself.

Then there's Adkins, as I stated previously and which you conveniently ignored, you only started posting ( ripping into Adkins) when it became clear the auto's were unrealistic and we'd be in for another season of trying to reach the play off's.

Have you ever made a positive post praising the club, Adkns or an individual player for a result or great piece of play?

As I said at the start Barney , you're going to have to vary your act a little if you hope to pull it off...you've been rumbled mate ( time and time again) , people are simply going to switch off soon...I'll keep tuning in though..just to keep you on your toes ;)

I saw it.

Sarcastic applause is the best description of what I saw.

The fans are pissed off with the manager.

The manager is pissed off with the fans.

All in a day out at BDTBL !!!!

No mate, just concerned you're having memory issues! :D
That's how I came away feeling on the night. We "did enough to win the game" as they say; certainly more than we did yesterday!

It's that strong togetherness that wins promotions.....

These are the two tweets the Rotherham fan refers to in the OP.

And this is what the inability to accept a difference in opinion can do to you.

Staggering.

Adkins reacted at the final whistle with loud clapping of the fans jeering through clenched teeth. Clearly irritated at the fans reaction at the final whistle. Can't say as I blame him. Booing is, without doubt, the scourge of modern day football support. Oh I wish it would go away. Akin to a petulant child throwing a strop.

As regards Brayfords interaction towards the end. I saw it more as a tactical discussion rather than a shouting match probably along the lines of "gaffer can you get me a bit more protection from midfield please !"

Where in the ground did you see that from to describe it as sarcastic?

He was down the tunnel virtually straight away after shaking hands.

We don't know, just best-guessing. Like I said, I wish his "conflict resolution" was better.

The analogy can't really be made, anyway. Playing staff and management staff are different kettles of fish. My point was that I didn't have a problem with Maguire looking up and I wouldn't have a problem with Clough looking up. His advisors that will continue to be employed and paid by the club regardless of the decision should be seen to tow the party line. Say what you like in private but get caught out, deal with the fallout.

And he failed to replace him successfully. He had a good go and was arguably let down by the players. I'm playing a bit of devils advocate here because I truly believe, whatever went on, Clough should've put his principles on hold for 90 minutes.

Which is why I shouldn't really be engaging with them on my level. I always seem to get dragged in and lowered to their level though.
I'd be interested to know what Barney or anyone else believes his level actually is???? It would appear Barney believes he is at a higher level that other posters as the phrase 'lowered to their level' would imply he belives he is at a much higher level himself.

So would Clough have done if fans were more patient....
Don't think his sacking had anything to do with fan pressure, I reckon the majority were in favour of giving him another season. He had already been given the chance to do the retain list when he was sacked, apparently there was some sort of bust up with him and the board.

Directors box.

You missed it then ?

Didn't see it but not saying he didn't clap but he left the pitch pretty quickly. (Presumably because he'd made himself look clueless )

What about it made it possibly sarcastic though Kevin :)

Bad flounce Barney
I fully accept we have a difference of opinion..you're simply unable to defend yourself against the post..because you have no defence perhaps?

Must try harder luv...
