Gary Sinclair yesterday

Don't get all this hate for Sinclair. He's a true Blade and bloody good at what he does. Probably the best up and down the grounds. He stood with his arms outstretched singing the GCB did he? Well, well done him, that's what I say. It's more than a lot of the soggy rice pudding headed refuseniks in the stands do, of which we have far too many.

Hecky did an amazing job
Hecky was completely thrown under the bus by the Prince when the latter - having been rescued from ruin by the former in 22/23 - then cruelly imposed the disaster of 23/24 upon him whilst simultaneously trying to balance the books and flog us to any clown in order to get his profit out of the club.
An ugly scenario in which Hecky behaved very well whilst being publicly shafted.
To say nothing of how the Prince - having previously been a decent owner - then screwed us on his way out.
He took us to some heights but boy did he get rewarded.
£100m for an investment of £5m ?
(I accept he subsidised our losses for years but his gamble paid off).

I wish he'd knock the pointless interviews at half time on the head, nobody listens, can hear or is interested. It's the wrong time and place, just play some music but at a level we can still talk to each other

They are better leaving the band interviews in the fan zone as it's easier for people to listen to them properly. Everyone on the mic at half time sounds muffled and you can't hear them.

Given that we now have American owners, I highly doubt they would agree that a stadium announcer isn't there to entertain.
I’ve now got visions of a bloke that is stark bollock naked, playing a Wurlitzer organ in the Python style.

Maybe Palin can do it forrus

With good reason, seen as how Wilder was beavering away in the background trying to get ‘his’ job back, just like he was when Selles was here.
Knowledge?
Bollocks?
Or
Bitterness?

I’ll confirm Sharpy has fallen out with Hecky.

For the record, I will be forever grateful for how Hecky managed post Joke Can of Fish. And how he got us with a semi on and a promotion. Bit he didn’t cross me.

But can you knock him for trying to promote local bands. They need the exposure.

Most clubs want to reduce the loudmouth gibshite lads lads lads culture and make games more welcoming for families. But for some reason we’ve gone the other way and picked out 2 of the biggest gobshites and made one the stadium announcer and the other the first team manager.

But a portion of our fanbase and mentally still in the 80s and love it, then sit around wondering why there’s no progression…
Sheffield United mentality. Utterly embarrassing but keeps to the 'model' we are so good at.

Absolutely agree with this post. Gary Sinclair is way better than any of the other match day hosts at all the many away grounds I have

Unfortunately he typifies how the club is run and what some of the supporters are happy with. We even have a 'Blade' scouting for us don't we?
Why didn't we think about promoting Keith Andrews to a more senior role rather than let him leave?
Of course not, he wasn't 'one of our own'.

This debate comes round a lot. I have some excellent memories of Gaz’s announcements.

“Scorer for the Blades … Des Walker!”

“It’s a pleasure to welcome one of England’s oldest and finest clubs today! … (and also their opponents Liverpool)”

Maybe Wilder could take over Gary Sinclair's job. 'Next on the turntable it's Bon Jovi. Good bunch of lads. Know how to make a decent record. Always give 100%.'

Thing is if we ever wanted to replace him it wouldn't work and we would have to bring him back.

Exactly, be careful what you wish for; besides, until we get a new sound system and microphone in place, is there really any point in changing for changes sake?!

Sinclair plays a role that has no impact on the results and is purely for entertainment so it obviously helps that he supports the team. Seems to me that recruitment is our biggest failures over last few seasons and isn’t Bettis in charge of that? Should get a bladey blade in maybe

I’d like Knowsnowt to have a go - in-fact rotate the job amongst this forums posters .

I’d bring back the theme from the professionals, and i’d threatened to bring back Tom Hark if anyone misbehaves.

Might be a generational thing but I’ve had my fill of him. Hearing the difference in tone between the Sunderland announcer and Gareoke at Wembley last year really stood out.

Sinclair sounded like a mobile disco dj, the other fella seemed to do a better job with the atmosphere/occasion.
My god, Sunderland even won the stadium announcers. I'm done.

There is now almost as big a disconnect between fans & team as there was at the end of Adkins's last season with the lap of dishonour.
We've come full circle.
It's the Blades way.
And if any brains had been applied since 2020 , it was so avoidable.
All we can do is suck up the incompetent waste of the fruits of our success 2016-20.
And take the edge off our pain by sharing our disappointment on here.

Seven years of PL & parachute cash.
New owners with supposedly more cash than the Prince.
The kind of potential of which we could only dream in 2016.
And trust dem Blades to contrive to be staring into the abyss.
Ultimately a seven year failure which is laughable if it weren't so painful.

And all the owners want to do is just continue shuffling along the same old Bettis & Wilder path ?
Making no changes to corporate structure , systems or oersonnel.
Exerting almost no control over this cute little old company they've bought ?

My goodness , I put more effort into stacking my dishwasher than they do into their £100m investment.

Why did they buy us ?
What research went into their purchase ?
Did they truly understand what happened 2016-20 and then 2020-24 ?

Normally you acquire a business coz you can see where changes need to be made , with the potential to add value.
Not to just leave the status quo in place.

A fool and his money are soon parted.
Doesn't even rhyme. Poor effort.
