Aaron Ramsdale interview

From what I got he refused to play because (according to him) the club said if he wanted to go they "wouldn't stand in his way" but then they refused the bid. Perhaps no one explained to him and he just thought that's the club lying to him so he took his own little protest to not play.

I liked him as a keeper eventually and he had some big gloves to fill from Hendo. I don't begrudge any of these two lads for leaving to go big clubs but I do think this massive love Rammers is getting may go to his head - then again it would anyone.
I read it that he refused to play because we didn’t give him an increase in salary after we turned down Arsenal. Hence his comment about someone at the club saying we didn’t ask him to take a pay cut when he was crap.

In Summary-

First half of relegation season shocking buy.

Second half was usually MOM for us.

Cannot blame him wanting to scoot off to Arsenal no young footballer would have not wanted that.

Cannot blame United for once holding out for correct amount of dough.

Wish he'd played against West Brom- but we would have still got beat.

Seems a nice lad- good luck to you Rammers.

Right now Wes doing fine..
I agree with most of that, but for refusing to play for us, he can fuck off.

I no longer wish him well, though we probably need him to perform for the add ons.

The comments regarding salary increase if the move fell through seemed really ill advised. Whomever stated, "we didn't give you a pay deduction when you were letting them in at the beginning of the season" is sort of spot on.

He literally only played well in 10-15 games for us. We were relegated and the lad expected a pay increase? He was a shambles for at least half a season.

He got his big move he was desperate for, not really sure why he feels the need to bad-mouth sections of our club in retrospect. Particularly given it was this club that developed him through the juniors and were the only ones willing to give him another shot at the PL after he had played a role in Bournemouth's relegation. Lacks a lot of maturity and class.
Summed it up perfectly.

Agreed he’s a mercenary
Same as anybody who does any job.
Try to work at the place you'd prefer to be , for the best wages you can get.

Sounds like we played hardball to get the max out of the deal, and pushed it as far as we could. That stressed him when we took it to the limit.
Fair enough on all sides imo.

My real problem is not what he’s done as far as the not playing or the negotiations even though it was in breach of contract It more what’s he’s said about it afterwards. There was nothing to be gained from it. He’s got his move and dishing the dirt on his former club shows a lack of maturity on his behalf. All thing considered he’s a CUNT

Sometimes it pays to keep your mouth shut Ramsdale. A lot Blades will now be cheering every mistake you make.
Don't think that will worry him.It is disappointing he blurted out his frustration at how the transfer dragged on.
From his point of view the frustration was building as he wanted to play premiership football that is understandable his immaturity kicked in here .I think on reflection he will regret that.
From united point of view :
Just relegated ! Big drop in revenue! An asset who was in demand ! Bound to become scruffy blades trying to get the best deal for the club ! We did that!
Ramsdale got his dream move and blades got a good deal.
Both parties happy in the end, what's not to like!.
Ramsdale is rated highly real chance of becoming England's No .1.
Seen all young keepers we have brought through since Hodgy ! He is the best!
Tom Mcallister is the nearest I would say to Ramsdale over the years.
He unfortunately was cut down when he was making a name for himself, he did recover but was never the same for years ! although he did play for West Ham.

There hasn't "got to be a middle ground" you were under contract and our valuation hadn't been met. Got relegated and because our valuation hadn't been met decided to ask for a pay rise and Foster bizarrely backs him up saying there is a lack of respect from the club. By the sounds the club hasn't done anything wrong on this one. Glad to see us not accepting the first offer for once.

And as for the "we didn't ask you to take a pay cut when you were conceding" comment it's actually a fair point from whoever said it. He was utterly dreadful in that first half of the season. One bid comes in and now all of sudden wants more money again whilst under a long term contract he signed less than 12 months earlier.

The irony of him saying clubs want goalkeepers in for a number of years on longer contracts whilst trying to engineer his move was clearly lost on him. I'm sure he was given lots of reassurance by coaching staff when things weren't going well that he was out man for the next 7 years.

Think he will go on to be a decent prem keeper but showed a lack of maturity in this interview and went down in my estimations.

Those two who are interviewing him make me laugh. Not looking at it objectively at all. Arsenal fans throughout have made themselves look very ignorant over the Ramsdale saga, from the uproar over his signing to the fawning over him now.

I remember watching Arsenal fans tv and the absolute mockery and hate at the suggestion of his signing was breathtaking and I’m amazed that didn’t put Ramsdale off.

He‘s gone and been amazing for them despite. He’s now a serious challenger for Englands no1.

Perhaps he ought to have a bit more respect for the club who’s had the biggest influence on his development and helped him get there instead of bad mouthing them at the first opportunity. He comes across very badly in that interview but he’s too far up his own arse to ever see it.

Anyone criticising the club on this matter needs to give their head a wobble, he'd have gone for £3m the promise of a friendly match against arsenal b team and a cheeky smile if mccabe was running things, 'you can't stand in their way when Premier league clubs come in for them'

Sorry have to disagree with the McAllister nearest to Ramsdale. Tom was a much better keeper than Ramsdale and had it not been for RM he would have become an even greater keeper …..IMHO

Ramsdale for part of the season was like co co the clown attempting to juggle the balls into his own net let’s not forget that and this went on week after week….Never saw Tom do that once

Everyone has an opinion that is mine .Mcallister would have been a great keeper the broken leg stopped his development which was a tragedy. Took him years to regain his confidence and form

Agreed it's very much from perspective of the player which I can half understand considering its Ben Foster's channel. But Ramsdale make its sound like we were holding him back maliciously again failing to acknowledge he was under a long term contract. And yes he fails to mention any role we may have in his development and any gratitude for this.

Rammers ever thought we may just prefer to keep him unless the offer was right? Maybe the club should have said nothing to him until an acceptable bid came in. It just sounds to me that Rammers was hassling the club to get the job done and the club were fobbing him off a bit until we got the deal we wanted.

Also, it does seem like he was being tapped up by Arsenal but I guess we can just ignore that kind of shit since its little old Sheffield United?

Anyone criticising the club on this matter needs to give their head a wobble, he'd have gone for £3m the promise of a friendly match against arsenal b team and a cheeky smile if mccabe was running things, 'you can't stand in their way when Premier league clubs come in for them'

Agreed. I think he thought McCabe was still running the show and that any shit offer from Arsenal would be enough to do the deal.

The comment that was made about him taking a wage cut being the reason for him to throw his toys out the pram and not play makes him look like a proper twat. He went from saying I will always play for the club one minute to then giving himself a pathetic excuse not to play. He threw his teammates under the bus doing that regardless of whether we like Rammers or not that was a cunt move that puts him on a par with Lundstram. I hope he got fined for it as well.

As if we were going to offer him a longer term deal if the move fell through just because its tradition to do so. The lad has a lot of growing up to do. I just hope we get our addons now.

You only have to look at the goal kyle walker scored against us for man City to realise:

1. Ramsdale is a million miles off being a world class keeper, 'league 1' wes saves that due to his better positioning.

2. Unlike Ramsdale, Kyle Walker is a true blade and always shows respect to the club that helped make him what he is.
