A disaster of a manager

Thing is, it's everything

We have lost all the games we have played in

We have scored 2 goals

We haven't scored for over 5 hours

We have no points

In both away games we haven't managed a shot on target

I can live with the defeats if I could see where all this was going. Hard to see that at the moment.

I still think judge him after 10 games, but realistically he needs to win the next 5 to give himself a 50/50 shot

Troubling times
1/4 of the fucking season! No thanks, not a shoot of optimism. Sack now!

I agree. But it wasn't broke, so why try and fix it? With Wilder and this squad, we would be top 6 now. Sacking Wilder was controversial at best, appointing Selles was bemusing
We had to get away from one man running everything, that is not good for a football club.
However we should have done it gradually and introduced a DOF working alongside Wilder

Only because the football was boring.

Results were good, but Jesus it was boring.

Not sure anyone wanted what we've got now though.

Hoping it all knits together, but it's looking unlikely atm

I assume this midfield will change. That's all I hope.

No chance.
3 or 4 new faces. Who would they be. No doubt some shite expensive flop.

Problem is they’ve replaced Wilder with another Wilder.

I’m pretty sure Selles won’t last but the board need a MANAGER.
Replaced Wilder with another Wilder? In his dreams! Wilder is an absolute club legend, but I don’t want him to come back

I said Charlton, but this is too long, got to go today/tomorrow at the latest, and he can also take Bindon with him.

We did.

Or do we keep wilder forever and ever?
Just because our current manager isn't much cop doesn't mean we shouldn't have moved on from him.
That might be true but given this you definitely wouldn’t sack him. The split in the board that wanted him to get the sack and appointed Selles and thought signings on AI would be our future need to hold their hands up and pay up Selles contract.

After that playoff capitulation?
After wasting how many millions...again?
After screwing up a great advantage against the relegation teams?
No thanks, it was time to move on.

Also what would have waiting another season have achieved with regards to getting another manager????

We could have been in the same situation next season as well with regards to getting someone new in.

This manager obviously isn't working but wilder also was not the answer.

The only reason we had an advantage in the first place was because he was massively overachieving. We were tipped for top 6 at best, and even our own fans didn't think we had a chance of autos before the season started. Sacking a manager for not finishing above two teams with 100 points and budgets/squads worth a lot more than ours, when you don't even start out as a contender, is ridiculous. But even if you think that's not good enough, it still didn't need to happen this summer in favour of an approach that's not even been implemented.

Waiting another season would have achieved us not being bottom of the league for a start, but also it would have meant not ripping up the rebuild of a squad from scratch (which managed to gel immediately and still hit 92 points) and starting again for our last year of parachute payments.

I feel like this is going over all ground, but surely people can see now what the timing of that change has done to the club, the fans and the players. We might take years to recover from it.

We can forgive 'a work in process' but that requires visible signs of progression. Tactics obviously don't work, we're not creating anything and wide open through no real midfield cover. Peck not DM and no help from Gus and COH, wingers not tracking back enough and one full back all about attack. Feels like one pass leaves at best 3 against 4/5 attackers. If he's not sacked then must show willing to change shape to accommodate players. Soumare must have done something bad from promising start in cup to not be in team for Peck or must drop Brooks and push COH right (or another winger) for more stability in midfield.

Worrying that after first 4 games that there is no sign of changing what's not working. At this rate last prem season low PPG could be under threat.

My view on it all is that they completely split the fanbase when they sacked Wilder, and the bad start has made that even worse; but they now have the opportunity to rectify a lot of that by sacking him (as I don’t think anyone really wants him to stay anymore) and bring in another more sensible manager for everyone to try and rally around, ie Steve Cooper

Early chance to give Sesko a run at home when we're playing well and Amorim puts Zirkzee on to replace injured Cunha!? Fans have stayed behind the manager despite the terrible record. Decisions like that (and not playing Mainoo and Heaton) will lose him the backing. Utterly baffling stubbornness

Sound in any way familiar?

Sheffield United have managed 3 shots on target in the last 4 games. One of those was from the half way line.

The biggest moan from last season was our (lack of) ability to create chances. We’ve somehow regressed massively since then.

I’m usually one to say give the manager time, but if you can’t set up a side to even get shots on target with the likes of Gus Hamer in it, then you’re not good enough. Need to pull the trigger early, get shut of the failed experiment and bring in someone who knows what they’re doing.

Obviously Selles is not the right man but if he goes and Wilder comes back I’ll be done with Utd.

Footballs getting bad enough and any return of a former manager (one for the third time) will just show Utd will never ever become a solid stable top league club.

Really made me laugh seeing this posted by utd4ever thank you 🤣

I expect Selles won't go before the transfer window is finished but they need to act now. How often does a team which finished 3rd then the next season start with four league defeats and play as bad as they are? It's just baffling.

At least it's one more defeat closer to him going you'd have thought.
Well he will leave one day regardless - so your thought is bang on

GET HIM GONE , no ifs , no buts ,
DO IT TONIGHT.

I thought Yanks were all about "fail fast and correct the errors immediately".

This bunch of dilatory owners must be the slowest US Businessmen ever.

Twiddled their thumbs for two whole weeks before sacking Wilder.

Sat on their hands for ages before selling our spine and then panicked into all sorts of erratic signings (except Tanga).

FFS , act American and take a feckin decision before it's too late.

YOU MUST NOT WASTE ANOTHER TWO WEEKS.

If they haven't already approached likely candidates , they are the dumbest Yanks I've ever known ...
And that's saying something 🙄

The only reason we had an advantage in the first place was because he was massively overachieving. We were tipped for top 6 at best, and even our own fans didn't think we had a chance of autos before the season started. Sacking a manager for not finishing above two teams with 100 points and budgets/squads worth a lot more than ours.

That’s not quite accurate.

Agree when the season started we weren’t promotion contenders

But we strengthened in the last week on the transfer window. Once the window shut we had the 3rd best, 3rd most expensive squad in the league.

Many neutrals forecast we’d finish in the top 2. I was very consider we’d finish top 3 and finishing 3rd was par for the course based on the strength of our squad.
