Interesting to note that Paddy Buckley rather than Woody took the penalty and ‘nearly tore the net ‘.

He was a player who was much underrated IMO , partly due to his physique which earned him the nickname of ‘The Flying Pig’ but also the fact that for many years before him we had been blessed with and become accustomed to having a succession of outstanding players in the position of outside left .

Just in my lifetime they included Collindrige , Grainger and Hawksworth who were very hard acts to follow but in my view and that of my mates at the time , Paddy made a fairly good fist of it in the relatively few games he played for us and endeared himself to us with his pace , ability to deliver excellent crosses and a powerful shot on goal .

For those who never had the pleasure of watching him play , think Ollie Burke with a footballing brain and total commitment to the cause , the latter having already racked up around £60 million in transfer fees and the former the equivalent of two pints of lager and a packet of crisps ……

Went to Blackpool for the Easter weekend match. Had a burger from a Burger van outside the ground. The next few days that burger kept on coming up over and over.

Never been to a Burger van again.

I see Derby County got promoted over that weekend. Brian Clough's purchase of Willie Carlin in the previous August paid off.

Meanwhile we sat in 7th position.
