Good win and a good performance all round really :D

Just picked this off BBC site

A win would give Sheffield United four points from two games - a total they have only managed once at the same stage in the last 12 years (in 2005)

Much better performance from the lads, including Brian Howard.

A very positive performance with very positive substitutions.

Henderson doesn't do himself any favours when it comes to referees, but some of the decisions were an absolute joke.

Still... 2-0 and fourth in the table will do for me :)

Thought Howard was OK but remained our weakest link today. He had a few nice touches, but he isn't good enough on the ball to make up for his lack of athleticism. Not exactly Glynn Hodges...

The biggest plus today was our pace and mobility on the wings, with more to come on the bench. Very encouraging.

All we need is that composed ball player in the middle, and we'll be a decent side this year. The balance is better, even if some talent has been sold.

JD

PS - Kyle = frighteningly good.

Biggest plus for me today was Ward, thought his energy throughout was terrific. Also nice to see him popping up with a goal, even if he did miss a sitter later on

Decent performance today. Evans took his goal very nicely and Ward looked lively. Agree with the comments about Walker who had a very good game.

Watford were garbage mind you.

Agree about Walker, looked like a kid who believes his own publicity, I hope he can keep his feet on the ground.

Did enough to win in a professional manner and left enough in the changing room to help Tuesday night.

Well done, not much to complain about is there?

Well done Blades!

Good performance against a poor Watford side. :)

Ward was excellent in midfield and Evans did very well, both of them taking their goals well. Treacy got some excellent crosses over and looked assured on the ball. Walker was very good but I thought all of the back 4 were solid. Bunn's kicking surprised me. He kicks it long and accurately which makes a nice change!

The "Ultras" made me laugh. I was curious to see who would be standing up, arms wide, singing a la Ultra stereotype, fully expecting it to be 15 year-olds. It was! That having been said, it did seem to me that there was more singing and noise in general. Could this be the "Blades Mad" factor or just because it was the 1st home league game coupled with a decent performance?

Overall it was good. Let's hope we carry it through to Tuesday. COYRAWW!

I went for Keeeef, looked good and had a hand in both goals.
And a much better performance than Tuesday, Ward should have buried that 1 on 1 chance instead of trying to take it round the keeper though!

That performance was so much better than Tuesday's. Once again it's evident that we're far better when we keep the ball down and get the basics right rather than hoofing it through the air. Same the ref was appalling though!

Thought Andy Taylor was superb , made Smith look very ordinary ,never hoofs it ,always in control looks a great prospect. 3 good performances from him so far and MOM today.

Think the lad will come into his own when he loses his nervousness.

He gets a bit worried when the ball comes over his head and does seem to drift out of position at times.

Don't get me wrong though, think he's had a good start so far and never put a foot wrong today.

I enjoyed today a good performance, it wasn't great .... I felt we had 2 or 3 more levels we could have took that game to, 2 nil was a soild result, but we could have really hammered them, all in all I'm very happy and looking forward to Tuesday.

I like the look of our front line at this first showing and hopefully we'll get to see more and more of the team play the good stuff. Evans has a solid touch and seems calm on the ball, we had some awesome chances, the wardy one (already mentioned) Hendo but he went for power instead of slotting it in the corner and even Cotterill had a nice effort.

Maybe Blackwells public bollocking paid off then :)

My only grumble today was that ref... made 3 shocking decisions.

I thought we looked in control for all of the game apart from a five minute spell before Evans scored. Assured performance but Watford were dreadful and are in for a long season if they continue that way. Good three points, if we can back it up with a win against a decent Leicester team we've had a great start to the season.

Bunn 7 - Absolutely nothing to do but his kicking is very good.
Taylor 7 - Decent performance, don't think he quite deserves the level praise he's got on this thread just yet, but looks promising.
Morgan 7 - Apart from a dodgy few minutes in the second half did very well against two lack lustre strikers in Graham & Ellington (how bad is he now?)
Killa 7 - Absolutely nothing to do.
Walker 8 - Thought he was outstanding, he's got all the attributes to be a really good Premiership defender. His runs forward give us an extra threat and he should be continued to be encouraged to do this.
Treacy 8 - Put in some great balls and looks assured on the ball.
Monty 7 - Steady.
Howard 6.5 - Played a few decent balls without really getting involved for the most part.
Ward 9 - Fantastic performance, you can tell he couldn't wait to get playing. Great on the ball, but was like a little terrior defending from RM position to LB in the first half. Kind of positioning for his goal which you couldn't have imagined Cotterill doing.
Henderson 7 - Felt sorry for him today, the referee gave him nothing.
Evans 7 - Always a threat and linked up well with Henderson & Ward. Like to see his goal again as it looked a bit strange!

Well happy with the result best United have played for sometime. Cheered me up.

Treacy looked good, looks as though he might be getting used to the pace of the championship.

Evans and Henderson partnership looked good

Defence was solid again

Referee was poor

Roll on Tuesday night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UP THE BLADDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Really assured performance, a few players stood out, namely Ward and Treacy. But thought we were terrific at times, played some nice stuff and looked steady at the back.

Hopefully, take this into Tuesday and get another three points.

UTB!!!

Decent performance today, we were in control for much of the game apart from the first 10 minutes or so in the second half where we were a bit sloppy.

Watford were very poor, I expected alot more from them. Made the game alot easier for us than it should have been, but I'm not complaining.

Not time to get carried away, Leicester will be a tougher test on Tuesday so it'll be interesting to see what team Blackwell puts out and how we approach the game.

And whoever booed Quinn, you set of arseholes. I don't rate the guy but I'd never boo a Sheffield United player.

The ref's performance though is unfortunately nothing new. Sitting on the Kop it seems that Hendo consistently gets a raw deal. Today DeMerit and the no. 24 were all over him, holding him down before the ball was even within 10 yards. Now we know that he is no angel himself, but there was one incident late on in the second half where he stood his ground on the edge of the box, was grappled to the ground and yet was adjudged to be the guilty party.

It makes me wonder if there is something everybody who sits around me is misssing, as we can't see how he seems to come out of every game with the foul count about 75% against him.

Really good performance, should have easily been 4-0 really. Some brief ratings:

Bunn 7/10 - one decent punch, one awful goal kick (danger averted by Morgs), zero to do. Looks confident.

Walker 7.5/10 - solid, read the game well, burst forward when he could

Morgs and Killa 7.5/10 - usual solid stuff

Taylor 7.5/10 - kept Smith quiet all game I thought. Also appears to be a decent passer of the ball, and has fitted in well

Treacy 8/10 - classy performance. He's quick, appears to have a brain, and was key to most of the 1st half's decent play

Howard 7.5/10 - good game I thought, seems to be much more effective in a 3 man midfield, and linked up well with the strikers

Monty 7/10 - solid enough. No mistakes, and one goal-line clearance

Hendo 8/10 - considering he's had zero of a pre-season, he did a good job today. Should have scored in the 2nd half with the goal open, probably should have had a penalty when hauled down at the edge of the box. The ref gave him absolutely nothing.

Ward 8.5/10 - was central to much of the good stuff today. A constant menace, seemed to be everywhere, decent finish, and should have had a second.

Evans 8/10 - after a really quiet opening half hour, he got into the game and looked excellent 2nd half. His goal was a super finish. He's good in the air, strong, good on the ball in the same way that Hulse was, but seems to have slightly quicker feet. He's going to be great.

Reid - looked bright. Needs a change in boot colour
Cotts - also looked bright, unlucky with a shot that hit the post
Quinn - didn't deserve the ridiculous booing, headed straight down the tunnel afterwards

Positive stuff overall. First time we've used Blackwell's 4-3-3 formation where all 11 players looked comfortable, most importantly the front 3.

I don't think it was 4-3-3, Ward was on the right wing with Henderson and Evans up front, joining up when given the opportunity. It was more of an attacking 4-4-2 with the wingers pushing forward to join the two front men.

For me, Ward looked more dangerous on the right than he does through the middle.

Yeah his pace was able to shine out on the wing and it allows him to cut in very effectively, I honestly can't believe this was the first time this front line played together, they looked comfortable. I'm excited by what we have.

Even when we Hoof it its alot more accurate, the quality in some balls all round the pitch seems to be improving and I thought we got a good mix of long ball and passing game to constantly keep Watford on the back foot.

Hopefully we can carry and develop this mix to make our game more effective than it was last season and improve on what we did though this season will be tough to call.

Looked to me like 4-3-3 going forward, switching to 4-4-2 when defending. Till the substitutions anyway.

Agree Sitters, yet up to today Taylor's initial impression on me had been negative, thought he looked all at sea against Vale and was a little shaky against chesterfield. However, today he looked assured and stronger all round. Judgement reserved, but feeling better about him.

I know the lads who have rated everyone have praised him but I'm surprised no-one has picked Treacy out - He looks quick and clever and seemed to pick the right ball constantly, I even think he set up both goals.

Ward and Evan's movement was superb too, and the centre backs were immaculate.
