So much better today. Calm leadership from Mee, Tanganga energetic, McCallum a man possessed first half, Ogbene getting past defenders on our right and putting crosses in, Brooks playing on the left and doing well, Soumare good in the tackle and moving forward with the ball a few times. Ok, it wasn’t perfect and the opponents were comically bad at times but this was a real improvement. Wilder has made good use of the international break. Big week ahead.

After what I assume was a good talking to at halftime, every player on the pitch today was solid. Well, barring Barry.

I'd like to see more of everyone who played today.

Especially Ings instead of Cannon. He was pressing them all the time.
Noticeable that we won and Cannot didn’t enter the pitch. Do I think Wilder is learning anything from that!? He might get it eventually but his use of Brewster over the years doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Yeah, I know that, but were there any notable stoppages during the +5? All subs were done and dusted by 82 minutes and can't recall any other stoppages 🤷‍♂️

Didn't need to be. If he has 5:55 on his watch on the 90 he is not "conjuring up nearly another minute", he is adding on the time he should have done.

1st half 0-0 pretty boring….we controlled it for long spells but Watford sat back easily soaking up the pressure and we never looked like scoring.

Full Blades 1 Watford 0
As expected 2nd half….both sides came out with more energy and more determination to score and it was reasonably entertaining too.

Think Wilder deserves some credit Watford had a good 5 minute spell early in the 2nd half
Then on 55 minutes we brought off Barry and brought on Brooks.
The break in play with the substitutions affected Watford’s momentum and from that moment we played really well.
Brooks played like a man on a mission to win a new contract…very impressed.

We scored and made a few more substitutions…..for about 15 minutes we were back to last years promotion form, the players and our Kop were up for it as we piled the pressure on Watford.
However 10 minutes from time we did our usual trick of going ultra defensive and parking the bus.

Surely we can close out games better than putting everyone in our box and booting it out anywhere.

Overall thought both us and Watford looked like 2 mid table Championship.
We scraped a 1-0 and overall probably deserves it but Watford did come close to equalising in the last 10 minutes

Same old formation lone striker oh dear
As I saw it, we returned to a back four today and would describe our formation as 4-4-1-1 with O'Hare behind Campbell:

I think we needed to take a player out of that defence. We pressed a bit better/higher, and also got more players forward and into the box, especially in the period after the break and until we scored.

We had probably our two most talented players missing today. My heart sank when I saw the lineup. But we did alright. It’s true that Watford were very poor, but we were on balance the better side and managed to see out the final few minutes for a win.
I’ll take it!

I’ve always had confidence in this team there’s untapped potential to be, at worst, mid-table. I was saying in the chip queue pre match, it all relies on capitalising on those key moments & the big players from last season turning up.

We should have taken 8 points from 4 games (now 11 from 5), but we only took 3:
Hold out vs Charlton — +1 point
Beat Oxford — 3 points
O’Hare takes the easy chance to go 2–0 vs Southampton — +3 points
Burrows scores the penalty — +1 point

We’re 23rd, but we should be around 18th. Hopefully, the psychological release of not being bottom will help relax the players in the upcoming games. we can see more displays like that 2nd half
