Your match thread for the first home league game of the season...

I'm going so I MAY see you at the lion beforehand, depends on my mate ie what time he's getting to Sheffield etc.

I'm going for first time in 30 years. But not come as far as you LA only about 70 miles not 7000 miles :)

I live in beautiful S2 mick the La refers to an old nickname of mine not LA ;)

You come for the first time in 30 years, and you pick the Watford game! Don't forget sunglasses or a cap, you'll probably spend a fair bit of time looking upwards, on past experience of Watford at the Lane... :p

We seem to be very Jekyll & Hyde against Watford to my memory, so it could go either way.

It'll be interesting to see the line-up after last night, surely Reid deserves a chance...

my team:

Bunn
Walker Morgan Kilgallon Taylor
Little Monty Howard Reid
Hendo Evans

Subs: Bennett, Bromby, Quinn, France, Treacy, Ward, Sharp

Well I'm in exec for this one (as is Silverfox I believe) so looking forward to a day session haha

Just a reminder to make your prediction for the weekend :)

Do Watford still play it long, after change of managers? Other than seeing them at the Lane, i never really take much notice of them.

Must admit i'm a bit unsure what to expect of Watford. i know they still have Smith and have got rid of a few, Priskin etc.

We should be favourites at home, and with Blackie's rollocking from mid-week still ringing in their ears, i expect 3 points

I expect Kyle Reid to start after what i thought was one of the only positive performances of Tuesday night.

Having Bunn back in net can only be a relief...although i do feel sorry for Bennett - what a mare to have - still at least he's no Lee Baxter!

Walker and Evans will be starting and i'm counting down the days till we can get hendrie in midfield...

I predict it will be a tough match as Watford are an ugly team and while we seem to raise our game to pretty teams - we also lower it for the hoofers...! Reckon it will be a sluggish 1-0 victory for the blades...just hope the goal comes form Evans...Is ward back from suspension for this?

"I doubt this style of longball to Graham will cause too many problems for the Blades defence..."

A quote from a Watford fan on another forum I use, we're in for a classic game tomorrow lads :D

Low expectations as always - dour draw - - but a win would make the pints in the Norton taste all the better!!

Early team news......

Evans set to start v Watford as Blackwell reverts to first-choice XI.
Ward returns from ban but Williamson (back) & Hendrie (ban) are out.

:)

Will be there with two nephews, meeting up with two Watford fans, work link, before match, hopefully i will be the happier after wards, but suspect it will honours even.

Right, 3 - 1 Blades, I'm off I've got some driving to do, a ticket to pick up and some pints to drink:beer:

It'll be like watching the World Up-And-Under Final. Hoof to Henderson. Hoof to Graham. Hoof to Henderson again. Hoof to Graham again. Like Groundhog Day directed by Jack Charlton.

I think it will be a draw, normally ends up being boring between the sides. Can't see it being much different this time.

Do you go to many Sheffield United v Watford games?

Off the top of my head I can remember beating them 4 - 1 under Bassett, with a Deano shot going past Tony Coton via a lovely bobble!

Losing 2 0 when Jags was sent off (by Foy suprise suprise who thankfully for Jag's skae is an Evertonian, so wont be reffing him anytime soon!) for nothing and a penalty awarded when the incident occured about five yards outside the area!

A mad 2 2 when they had their 'keeper (I think it was Pidgely from Chelski) sent off for handball.

Getting thrashed 4 - 1 on the telly with yet another sending off!!

Tonguey's deflected thunderbolt in the sunshine, when I thought safety had been assured :(

Also many great away days at Watford,

Winning 3 - 0 at the end of one season, Warnock put a young side out and we stuffed em.

The Prem game with a Webber offside goal, the best we played away that season, Nade should have had a hat trick.

The amazing 3 - 2 in the promotion season, own goal, great last twenty minutes comeback and another sending off think (for them this time), the day I thought it was gonna be our season!

So yeah you're right, always a dull game between two teams, just about to set off for the lane, 0 0 it is nailed on!
