“In Wilder we trust” but do we?!

I'd say we're eBay shoppers. We're there because we can't buy that 4K TV we want new from Currys and we know it, but you can get some reyt deals if you risk it, and at the end of the day you get what you need.

Or the bloke who lusts after a quality car. He can't afford a brand new one, so buys a used model - something somebody else has had the best out of. It'll occasionally let him down, but that's all his budget will stretch to.

Name any manager who gets more than 60/70% of his transfers right.

He's improved the overall squad year on year so far, we smashed League 1 in his 1st season and finished 10th in the Chumpionship season 2, our highest finish for 10 years.

As others have said, he's having to work with a budget which should, all things equal, put us lower to mid table in this League so I think it's safe to say we can trust him thus far :)

This reminds me of a Blades Facebook group post.
Blades fans: FFS wilder get a striker, we need a striker, get a f*cking striker in.
Wilder: signs mcgoldrick.
Blades fans: no not that striker.
Wilder: *facepalm*

Life as a Blades hasn't been this good for decades, yet still complaints, I really don't get it.

I don’t think you read the OP properly if you think it’s a moan. The players we’ve signed in this window seem to be ok, what I was saying in a roundabout way is that Wilder isn’t infalliable, however he still has the trust of the fans.

I was highlighting the fact no matter what he does in the transfer market, some sections will criticise him, not specifically pointing to the moaners, more to say he's signed some shite but admitted it and sold on but hasn't really done bad on the whole, on a pretty low end budget.
Some sections really do only want to complain is what I was saying.
As for trust, he's done his best, took players no one wanted and made them pretty decent, if that alone doesn't generate trust in his abilities as a transfer market wheeler dealer then nowt will.

I think the main thing Is we are a much better squad now than we ever were last year.

Apart from Brooks we have kept everyone worthwhile who we owned last year, while adding Henderson, Egan, Norwood, Mcgoldrick - which are surefire improvements and the likes of Johnson, Woodburn, Washington and Bryan in too.

I’d prepared myself to losing Fleck and/or O’Connell. Very pleasantly surprised. I should have more faith

I know it’s been mentioned earlier on this thread but Holmes and Leonard were big public targets and Wilder hasn’t got them hanging around on big wages because he made them his priority signings

They didn’t excel in our style of play and Wilder is man enough to shake their hands and move them on

Wilder: Kev, I need these 2 players they are perfect etc etc

Wilder: Kev, bell these 2 a Taxi a piece for mi cock their off

In Wilder we trust definitely

(Don’t know if he definitely shook their hands I’m not ITK)

The thing I like about CW is the no bullshit approach.

He signs a player if he doesn’t like them he doesn’t persist with them he just gets rid and moves on. Some people have an EGO and would be pushing the players they bring in.

If your not good enough here in his opinion your moved on and quickly. Look at the turnover of players. But the main thing is every window our squad gets stronger and stronger and that’s all we can ask for.

What he's also doing is gradual improvement. We know we can't compete with other clubs for players who will definitely make a difference in this league so we have to do it gradually and for me, he's improved the squad in each window so far.

Last season Wilder was still learning about the Championship and what does/ doesn't work.

Leonard: seemed like a Championship player, hard working, fit, reminded me of lesser quality version of Basham - but lets be honest he never had a good game, as fans we probably gave him the benefit of the doubt most games because we wanted him to do well due to how long Wilder had chased

Holmes: In league one he was probably the best opposition player I saw, he's quality on the ball, but the pace of the Championship was too much for him. He wasn't allowed to compose himself and make that 'worldie' pass as he was closed down. I also think we didn't play him in his best position which is wide left.

Evans: Nobody can blame Wilder for signing him, he has quality and is a good player, he probably just didn't suit the way we play - high tempo, high pressure, move the ball quickly. He will still have a good career despite not working for us.

Wilson: He had a good pedigree, Wilder should have done more research on his attitude though as this was his biggest downfall. Bizarrely he felt he could rival Lukakau, Rashford, Sanchez and Martial for a starting place rather than focussing on the task in hand

Since then Wilders approach has been tried and tested Championship quality and he's realised you have to spend good money on those types.

In all of our personal careers I am sure the first year of receiving a job promotion you were getting used to the job and then the second year you became much more confident in your role - Wilder will be the same

We were shit. Really shit.
He spent peanuts.
We romped League 1.
